I got a new PC, a ground up built gateway...anyways the sound is so soft. I turned up the volume as high as it goes and also when I listen to CD's the media player volume but it still is very quiet. Any suggestions?? Thanks

Ok. very stupid question, but did you right click the speaker icon in your toolbar? It should bring up "Open Volume Control". If the Wave volume is down it doesn't matter how loud you turn up the speakers.

Have you checked to make sure the latest drivers are installed for your sound card? Is your card imbedded or is it PCI?

Also you can try going into control panel and then going into the advanced properties. Each device has independent volume controls.

...or you can call Gateway support but you'll talk to some guy named Masheesh in India

That's actually a double bonus. Masheesh can fix your computer and I'm sure he'd love the Mermaid pics.

Haji love.

I had the same problem with my brand new compaq about 5 months ago. I had really nice polk audio speakers. But they were just way to quiet. I called compaq and they stated that I needed powered speakers. I went and picked up a powered hree speaker set with Sub at Walmart for 29.95. Brought it home and it sounds damn great and solves the problem.
