Not going to criticize the DBacks for the big bucks signing of Tomas. But he is really overmatched in the majors at this point of his development. Best move would be to send him back to Reno where he can play everyday and build up his confidence. Would also leave him in the outfield.

Until Lamb is back, I think you will see him up here
Yes, and I think the reason is we need pop in the batting order at a corner position beside Goldy.

Trumbo is a threat when he is in the lineup, but he is one of four sharing three outfield positions.

Due to that need, I would think that the D-backs are willing to let Tomas get his OJT at the Major League level as long as they hopefully see him begin to improve and show power at the plate.

I voted for a poll prediction of 82-80 for the D-backs this season. I see giving Tomas a chance to progress being consistent with that. Certainly until Lamb is back.

agreed. in a non competition year let the kid learn trial by fire. as long as eventually he starts to turn it around. if he slumps for a couple months it could wreck his confidence permanently

Had a good series against the Rockies. Hope it continues.
Not just a good series, but progress. That is the key. I can't believe this thread began with the premise of not giving him a chance. Not giving the coaching staff a chance.

It is so obvious that, once Tomas started to become comfortable in a foreign country, in the Major Leagues, the hitting potential (and more at ease at 3B) would show.

We have, at the least, another Yasiel Puig here. Only ours is not a flake!

Yea, he did really well the last series. I hope it wasn't a fluke and it continues. Need his bat.
