I have an unlimited data plan though Sprint and am wondering if I could get a device to plug into a netbook to have wireless net access via that service ?

If then so then does anybody have a netbook suggestion

I am no expert on this but I think the device you need to plug in is considered a phone. It requires it's own line of service on the network. Your data plan is tied to your phone line. So unless you find a way to use your existing phone as the access point I would suspect the answer is no.

Verizon is even offering a HP netbook for $100 with a plan signup that has the card built in. In this case the whole netbook basically becomes the "phone" hardware.

I work for Sprint and most of our devices can be used as Phone As A Modem. The feature is included on most of our Everything Data plans. So depending on your device you can just use your USB connection and fire it up through your phone. You will need to go to Sprint.com/downloads first and install the Sprint Connection Manager.

If you need further help, PM me.
