Mercer would be another guy who could play point guard spot duty. He would probably be the second best PG on the team. Not bad for a 6-7 true 2.

If the Suns "defense at all costs" signings are an indication, Mercer would definitately NOT be considered.

I would much rather spend money on Derek Anderson than Ron Mercer, it probably won't happen because I just read where Tony Dutt is DA agent. I think he was McDyess's when the Suns were dealing with that fiasco.

I picture Mercer being at the stage in his career where he'd sign for the minimum. Not the case with Derek Anderson.

I was under the impression that all the amnesty guys could only sign for the minimum, and that amount would be subtracted from the amount they were due from the waiving team. I don't think they're able to double dip. I think that was what I read when the new CBA was agreed to . . .

They actually can double dip, but half of their new contract gets subtracted from what they're owed. Also, the money they receive from being waived is usually spaced out over a number of years depending on the structure of the contract(I know it is for Houston and Finley).
