embarrassment. complete, total, no-doubt-about-it, embarrassing display of absentee testicle-ism. and it started from the first snap. i'm going to very methodically discuss the heartless, gutless, putridity of today.

coaches - the coaching staff gave up before the game even began. we have proved, time and time again that we cannot run the ball. we just can't. we don't have the manpower or scheme to be successful running the ball. what can we do? pass the ball (or at least we used to believe we could pass the ball). and what are the first 7 out of 8 plays called? run plays. we gameplan to our weakness. now i understand that the cliche is that you have to run in inclimate weather to win. but cassel looked damn good spraying the ball around, didn't he? and i also understand that kurt has a rep as not playing well in the snow - guess that rep was well earned b/c he couldn't get the ball to his receivers if those were mighty mite pop warner dbs across from him. but that said, the coaching staff sent up the white flag when they refused to use our weapons. they admitted complete impotence with the play calls. no balls.

whiz has officially lost me. i had high hopes for him, but he's lost his team, i haven't seen improvement in areas requiring improvement and the accountability doesn't exist unless you're a punter, and even then he has to be bludgeoned into making a change. consider me off whiz's bandwagon. he has to prove himself to me from this point on. he's resurrected the darkside.

kurt - the man just isn't "the man." not for this team. he'd be great on a team that has awesome talent and just needs a qb to put 'em over the top. but this team doesn't have that type of talent. it needs a transcendant qb and kurt is no longer that. his complete inability to play well in poor weather emasculates an already increasingly impotent offense.

o line - they've been my whipping boys for a long time now, and today they really showed their true colors all day. i lost count of how many free rushes to the qb they allowed. i was appalled at the amount of times i saw defenders in our qb's faces and olinemen dancing with no one to block (levi was the biggest offender here - he'd let someone race RIGHT PAST HIM and then try to double down on ghosts - i cannot emphasis enough how bad he is. mediocre? he'd have to improve by leaps and bounds to get to that level these days. enigma? only if you're wondering if he has to shower after games b/c he hasn't worked up a sweat. inconsistent? only if you're stupid.). and that's just the attempts at pass blocking (and i say "attempts" b/c to say otherwise would indicate that they actually blocked anyone at any time). runblocking? need we rehash that again? they should be made to practice in pink tutu's all week.

rest of the offense - hightower just isn't talented. we need to let go of the fruitless hope that he's a starting caliber nfl back. of course, our coaches calling the delayed draw doesn't help . . . dumbest offensive play in our playbook. and the rest of the bums? no effort. nice hands by EVERYONE. i realize the ball may be a bit slicker than normal, but again, the pats seem to be capable of catching the ball. and there was no separation for any of our wr's . . . and that's effort . . . or lack thereof. just a bunch of warm weather pansies.

special teams - just piss poor in all facets. get on the short bus. all of you.

defense - sigh. honestly, i don't even know where to begin. they are so bad in so many ways. the heartless effort by the d line, the complete inability to breakdown and contain. the gaping holes in the run game. the disappearance of our safeties. the continued poor tackling. it often looked like none of our team wanted to try b/c they might end up on the ground and it's cold there. oh wait, rolle ended up on the ground . . . every time he attempted to grab a foot (i refuse to call that tackling).

this team is worse than last year. i cannot remember a stretch like the one we're in to close the season at ANY time last year. not an embarrassment after embarrassment after embarrassment. as bad as we've ever been i cannot remember one prior cardinals team just refusing to play as this team did today. i simply cannot berate their effort enough. it was shameful. it was Madoff proportions. what we watched was football fraud. i think today you could walk up to these punks we call football players and openly question their integrity and they wouldn't respond b/c they were friggin' squirrels today. and that's doing a disservice to rodents. even if we finish 9-7 i think we are considerably worse than last year's 8-8 squad. we cannot nut up against the good teams and we routinely get rolled. i mean flat out undressed and embarrassed by good teams. i have been edging ever closer to the national pundits, but now i not only completely agree with them, but will champion their call-out of the cardinals as paper division champs. they would be sub .500 in any other division. they are not mediocre . . . they are a hair's width separated from the SF's of the league. not good.

i have so many other negative feelings and thoughts that i just cannot seem to verbalize at present. many of you know that i've been a longtime darksider, but how many of you have read a rant like this from me? usually i am content to make a point, maybe argue it a bit (okay, in the past it was a lot, but that's a few years ago already - i've mellowed considerably), and then let it go. so to make me step forward like this? well, it took a monumental effort on the part of the cards.

know where we are today? as i was watching the game it was third and 8, warner rolled out and threw a fluttering girl pass to someone (does it really matter?). the pass was about shin-high, the receiver didn't even make a stab at it. one very cute young lady to my right exclaimed to the another cuter younger lady to her right, "oh, that's embarrassing!" then she spotted me in my boldin jersey . . . and muttered, "oh, i'm sorry" dripping with pity. and there i sat, right back to that day in the bar with cheese as the winless raiders ripped us apart and people just patted us on the back and shook their heads or gave us backhanded props like, "hardcore man, hardcore." today, nay, in the last 5 games, we are as bad a cardinals team as we have ever been. and what do we have to look forward to? more embarrassment in the playoffs. great. can't wait.

Not really a good comparison IMO. Ryan was a storied coach cashing in a final paycheck. Whis is a first time guy who has a lot to lose by failing here. Ryan had mass nepotism and turn the offense and defense against each other. Whis hasn't done that to my knowledge?

Step forward more often!

Your rant is more than justifiable. The book is out on how to blow out the Cardinals.

The last three games is an embarrassment to all. It has soiled any accomplishments from the beginning of the season.

As for Whiz and Company ? I dunno. I am not getting off that wagon yet. This IS the Cardinals. A lot of the talent that is here has shown this potential for caving in.

Maybe this is reason to really look at this roster and start getting rid of some of the guys that have been here too long and just slip back into the same ol Cardinals mode, and give up.

I dunno. But the frustration is at an all time high right now.

No excuse.

The Cards are what they were all along. One of those middle of the road teams in a Parity NFL. They ended up with the best record in the worst division in the NFL.

They look so one and done for the playoffs, but it beats all hell out of not being in the playoffs.

Anyone want to see a RB choice in the first round?

Nice rant! That was one of most frustrating and discouraging Cardinals games I have EVER seen. The total lack of EFFORT was the most discouraging aspect of the game. Every player with the possible exception of Edge should relinquish their game check to the Salvation Army.

I fully expected a loss, but not a TOTAL butt-kicking.

Let's look at who was missing:

Clark Haggans, Travis Laboy, J.J. Arrington, and Anquan Boldin. That's four key components.

But still this game, really 3 of the last 4 games, have been extremely disheartening. To state the obvious: changes need to made in the offseason. Both lines look very questionable against good opponents.

Yeah well the Eagles game was it for me, I've never been so pissed at the Cardinals before and tht's saying something.

Everyone told me ah, they were tired, it's the short week, the travel, the East Coast.

IMO it wasn't really any of that, that might be a reason you lose a game, but when you get your manhood taken off and displayed on a pole, that's another story and this is like what the 4th time that's happened in one year?

Neutered is a good word, too few men on that team IMO.

I said it last week and I'll say it again. Yeah this team has looked pitiful and has shown the mental tenacity of a mouse.

Bet its alot better to be pissed with a division championship and playoff game in hand, no?

I am not saying that we are not an entirely flawed team that is a national embarassment. But the reality is down the line we will remember the divsion being won and we can't hear the other teams fans telling us how we haven't hosted a playoff game since 1947.

This is almost kind of welcome by myself as now the team won't remain "status quo" going into the offseason and have no illusions of what they are.

Which is the best of a bad bunch.

These losers were sniveling before they left town to go to the game. wimpazzes. I went to the driving range to hit balls before the end of the 1st qtr. It wasn't worth watching

I'll be at the Seahawks game only cuz I already drove over from Albq, have tickets, and am looking forward to tailgating.

I want to go into the stadium early while not alot of people are there and maybe they can hear me, so I can yell at them to grow some hair on their azzes.

Yeah, there is some lack of talent, but this bunch has zero heart or soul

I am surprisingly okay with things. Maybe I am gaining maturity over the last couple weeks.

I do have an agenda though. The recent slide will undoubtedly cause the team to take a hard look at themselves this offseason (read let Kurt Warner go) and to be honest we have the least amount of improvement to do in the standings according to the division records.

I always thought next year we would be contenders.

Agreed. Whiz still has a winning record as Cardinals coach. He's 5-0 in the division, which is hard to do no matter how bad the other teams are.

We aren't worse than last season, IMO. Last season's team would have probably lost both SF games and definitely would have lost the game @ Seattle. At least we are beating the bad teams now and just losing to the good ones :D Under Mac and Denny we couldn't beat the teams with the #1 draft pick.

We are getting there slowly, I think.

I'm not aboard with letting Warner go, but his value and what I'd offer him has plummeted in the last month. No 8-million, maybe 6 million incentivized. ;)

Yeah I have no doubt if Green were the coach we'd have found a way to lose the division even as it was being handed to us. We're definitely better than what whiz inherited but we're not what he told us to expect, a tough team.

Although the team has NOT played well recently, it's hard to understate just how difficult the schedule has been.

We've drawn the BEST teams in the other three NFC divisions, along with playing four games each versus the powerful NFC East and AFC East, arguably two of the top three divisions in the NFL from top to bottom. Any way you slice it, this has been a challenging schedule, including five east coast trips, a Thanksgiving Day road game against a desperate opponent, yadda, yadda, yadda. Granted the team has played like cr@p in several of those games, but the schedule has been absolutely brutal IMO.

How can you expect a tough team, when you allow them Mondays off after blowouts? Or, "practice" without even helmets?

Yes, that is all true TR. And, if we had lost all of these games like we lost the Skins and Panthers games, I would be proud of the team. But, to lose these games like we lost them during McGinnis era? No excuse for that none. I mean, can understand one perhaps, but not a handful.

Is everything
they are a hair's width separated from the SF's of the league. not good.

Until yesterday I thought we were head and shoulders above the dregs of the league. But in hindsight, in week 10 if SF doesn't blow the last 30 seconds at scores that final TD at PUP we'd finish 2nd in the WEST IMHO.
