The Tampa Bay Buccaneers know they need to address the linebacker this offseason. While the NFL Draft remains a priority for them to find a starter and potential replacement for Lavonte David in the long haul, it is actually Lavonte David who played a role in bringing in a critical piece to the team this offseason.
Anthony Walker, a native of Miami, Florida, spoke at his introductory press conference about how the Bucs legend being from Miami and looking up to him during his career played a role in his wanting to be a Buc.
Walker said, "Obviously, the respect that he has in Tampa, on this team, in the city, everywhere he’s been, he’s touched a lot of lives, and for him to help me get here is amazing as well. Obviously, a chance to be teammates with him would be pretty dope, and I kept telling him that. He said one day, he was going to make it happen. We’ve been trying to get this done since I was getting drafted, but [we were] finally able to get it done.”
Lavonte David continues to show the value he brings to the team both on and off the field. Had David signed elsewhere, the Bucs would be down even more at the position than they are today, because of the future Hall of Famer.
