OK, I just last night loaded iTunes on a second computer in my home, since the CD on the one I was using was having trouble playing and loading cleanly. Did the whole transfer files using ipod as a disk so I could put all my purchased and other music on the new computer (although it actually didn't transfer items I had loaded from CDs, and I had to do a thing to transfer the playlists. Then realized I wanted to delete the badly copied CDs ANYHOW...In short I got it all screwed up...)

Finally, I got it set up, re-uploaded the two or three critical CDs, and this morning went to sync my ipod and -- HOLY Moley -- suddenly although my Audio file is the same size, the "Other" file is almost a Gigabyte -- before the transfer it was way less than half a gig --

I discovered it had automatically uploaded all the photos from this computer, so I eliminated them, I think turned everything off, and resynched -- but there is still this 900-plus MB of "Other" listed. I have no idea what it is, or even how to find out.

It probably did a scan of your entire computer for MP3s/WAVs/Movies etc. If you have any computer programs/games installed on your computer, it probably added those.

I havent used iTunes in a while, but isn't there a "library" link that you can click on that will tell you everything in your iTunes???

I think what it did was somehow archive the files I transferred from the other computer, basically giving me two complete sets of purchased songs but only one identified as audio, because today it somehow was playing a badly uploaded version of a song I KNOW I erased and replaced with a good upload after I made the computer switch. So I just erased the whole ipod and restored it, and now the 'other' is under 30 MB instead of 970. Hopefully once it is done updating and organizing itself it'll all be good.
