The New York Giants entered the offseason on the hunt for quarterbacks and that remains true with the third wave of free agency set to begin on Monday.
Thus far, they have re-signed exclusive rights free agent (ERFA) Tommy DeVito and agreed to terms with Jameis Winston on a two-year deal worth up to $16 million with incentives.
Despite those additions, the Giants have continued their pursuit of three-time NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers and 10-time Pro Bowler Russell Wilson. They have also met with Joe Flacco and are expected to use the third overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft on a rookie signal caller.
But what if they shifted gears and took a different route? The trade market is rich with potential options but not all of them are veteran quarterbacks.
Tyler Sullivan of CBS Sports believes the Giants might be the "logical destination" for New England Patriots quarterback Joe Milton III.
Milton, a 2024 sixth-round pick who impressed in a spot appearance last season, is a logical trade candidate. The Patriots are obviously moving forward with Drake Maye as QB1 and Milton does have some value on the open market. But as Sullivan alludes, is that the type of quarterback the Giants are looking for?
If they weren't in a position to select a young quarterback in the upcoming draft, Milton would make a lot more sense. But because they are, this sort of trade seems far less likely.

The Giants are another QB-needy team. They were reportedly deep in discussions about possibly acquiring Matthew Stafford before he decided to stay with the Rams and are also one of the teams interested in adding Rodgers. They've also hosted Russell Wilson on a free-agent visit. Judging by the veteran QBs they've had their eye on, Milton may not fit the profile of what they want at the current moment. Still, he's an option to consider. There is a world where Rodgers retires and Wilson heads back to Pittsburgh, leaving them with little options at the position. Even at the NFL Draft, a quarterback worthy of the No. 3 overall pick isn't a slam dunk to be available to them with the Titans and Browns -- two teams that could use a quarterback -- ahead of them. With all that in mind, Milton is at least an option with some upside that could be available at a relatively low cost for Brian Daboll and Joe Schoen.
