New York Giants general manager Joe Schoen and head coach Brian Daboll are both on the hot seat in 2025. After taking the team to the playoffs in their first year with the organization in 2022, the Giants have done nothing but get worse since then.

Schoen has made some adjustments this offseason, specifically bringing in Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston, which helps this year but doesn't really solve the quarterback problem. And there are other things they'll address during the draft in two weeks.

The Giants aren't alone, though. Cody Benjamin of CBS Sports says that there are four teams under serious pressure to improve in 2025, including the Indianapolis Colts, Miami Dolphins, and Arizona Cardinals.

The Giants, though, are probably the closest to an implosion.

If anyone's on the verge of a blowup, it's these guys. And isn't that almost always the case in East Rutherford, New Jersey? Owner John Mara showed a surprising level of restraint when he retained coach Brian Daboll and general manager Joe Schoen not only after an ugly 2023 but a wholly dysfunctional 2024; he'd previously axed three straight coaches after no more than two seasons apiece. But with Daniel Jones finally cast out as the failed quarterback of the future, two veteran replacements added in Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston, plus a No. 3 overall pick awaiting in the draft, this feels like the current front office's last shot to prove the spirit of a surprise 2022 playoff bid is still alive. The issue: They still need a better foundation for whomever's throwing the ball.

If Schoen's additions to the team don't perform well or if Daboll can't get them developed into what they need, this season will tank and both of their jobs will be gone. But if they can take the newly added players from free agency and the ones they're going to get in the draft and meld them into some semblance of a cohesive unit, they might have a chance.

But they can't just win a few more games than last year, either. The Giants need to have a winning season in 2025, or it's going to feel like a failure no matter how they look on the field.
