New York Post:

KIDD: LET'S ROLL DYESS

By ANDREW MARCHAND
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
February 28, 2004 -- The love is mutual. Jason Kidd is all for Antonio McDyess becoming a Net next year.
"I wouldn't mind having him on my side," Kidd said after practice yesterday. "He has something to prove. I think he is still young. Why not? I know he can play. Given a chance, he would do well. He would fit in with this team."

Right now, Kidd and the Nets are clearly focused on this season. With the Lakers due tomorrow, they have to avoid the temptation of looking past the gritty Heat this afternoon.

The 29-year-old McDyess would be an interesting free agent signing. The ex-Knick with the bad knees could flourish with a healthy half-season with the Suns.

"If you are hungry and you want it, you can do anything," Kidd said. "I know he is a competitor. If that is the case, but I can't talk about that because I'll get in trouble. That is up to him."

When Kidd first came to the Nets he mentioned how he'd love to have McDyess, then a Nugget, join the Nets. The league warned Kidd about tampering.

Earlier this week, McDyess, who teamed with Kidd in Phoenix, expressed an interest in coming to the Nets as a free agent.

"That would be great, definitely would be great," McDyess said. "Who wouldn't want to play with Jason Kidd? I'd say he's the best point guard in the league. To play with him again would be great."

I see this as a very likley situation. He'd accept peanuts to play with Kidd IMO.

How about lets hate the Nets!!! Those are the 2 players I hate the most!!!! McDyess betrayed the Suns and Kidd had his falling out as well,Good riddance I hopeMcDyess leaves soon, Kidds window of oppurtunity is almost gone and McDyess is fragile!!!! Holding animosity is great

This seems to be Jason Kidd's M. O. two years ago it was Mutombo. Last summer it was Alonzo Mourning. Every year Jason Kidd has to show the love for some has been big man.

Kidd needs to shut the hell up. If it weren't for their overrated 14 game winning streak, they'd be talking about other things right now.

Maybe they should figure out how to beat a Western Conference opponent in the finals.

We'll, I kind of like the idea of keeping Dice if he says healthy. He made a mistake years back and admits it. Hope he doesn't do it again..... if the Suns want to keep him, he should stay.

Kidd may not even be a Net next year - In so many words he said he wouldn't play in Brooklyn......... BUT, maybe that was before he found out Brooklyn WAS in NY:D

I'd love to see McDyess continue his "Whoops!" tour in New Jersey.

Maybe they can sign him to a long-term contract for the MLE; that way they'll be able to dump Kenyon Martin if Martin keeps insisting that he's a max player...:p

There is nothing about Dice's game so far that suggests he is worth more than a veteran minimum to anyone.

BTW, the Nets streak was busted as soon as they started playing western teams - losing to the Wolves and not the Lakers. Welcome to reality Jason.
