Deciphering news of the day

I've got to post the redux later, but here's what is happening today at the Colts complex. Don't have definitive details on injuries from the Colts -- coach Jim Caldwell said today that he wasn't going to get into his renditions on such matters -- but I'll throw my two cents in here on what's what.

First, the team signed LB Jordan Senn and waived TE Tom Santi. I'm surprised that Santi was cut. I actually chatted with him briefly today as I has headed to the locker room. He's still wearing a boot on his left foot. Now I could be wrong on this, but something tells me the Colts will bring him back, presuming he clears waivers. He's hurt, don't know that many teams out there want to sign an injured tight end and wait on him, and they have to make that decision in a day. So, perhaps the Colts bring him back, they could sign him to the practice squad, but I hope it's not the last we see of him. Santi is one of the good guys, the picture of humility and hard work, and we remember he had 10 catches in a rookie season that was cut short by injury. He had half of those catches in one game at Minnesota. He has shown potential.

Which brings us to another left boot. WLB Clint Session missed practice today with an ankle injury. He was wearing boot on his left foot. MLB Gary Brackett also missed the workout with a left knee injury. The signing of Senn suggests the Colts are going to be thin at the position and needed another guy. All Caldwell would say is that Brackett and CB Kelvin Hayden are "day-to-day." Well, we all are. I don't know that Brackett plays. Went back and watched the part of the Miami game where he went down, late in the fourth quarter, and he's flexing that left knee. Brackett is a tough guy, and he's been hurt before. He doesn't go down and stay down unless it's something serious. I doubt we see him on Sunday night.

Hayden said he tweaked his hamstring late in the game, but that he should be able to go this week. But you just never know. Rookie CB Jerraud Powers wanted to play last week, but the team decided to be cautious with his groin injury. I suspect we see both Powers and Hayden.
Caldwell was also asked about S Bob Sanders. I know, I know, but sometimes you have to ask for an update, at least once a week. Of course, nothing new, other than he's working on a couple things. Don't have a clue what that means. I'll take it to mean that Bobzilla is close. But, hey, some days I'm an optimist. Some days, I'm a pessimist. Glass half empty, glass half full kinda guy. Today, it seems full. And I don't know why.

ME: Who knows but it sounds as though as of 30 minutes ago on Wednesday night the colts are a little banged up on defense. No mention of the offense that I had heard of some small injuries with them.I'll keep on top of it.

Sanders,Brackett and maybe Sessions is a gametime decision with some corners really hurting. If we can't take advantage of that then we should'nt be playoff contenders.I know we still have Freeny(superman) and Mathis to contend with and the duo in the middle are'nt that bad either.

Its time for Latui and Sendlein to really open some holes this week.Let Reggie Wells pull since he's the only one in shape to do it and I've seen him do it very well on Well's first NFL touchdown in the pre-season game.Actually thats not really considered an NFL touchdown.Gotta be during a real game.Thats for Sunday NIGHT!!!
