The Tennessee Titans made some moves in the early period of free agency. They didn't do a lot, but they did bring in some new faces, re-signed familiar faces, and made some trades. They weren't the only ones; many teams were highly active in free agency with designs on improving their squad for 2025.
One of the biggest things the Titans did during free agency was sign offensive lineman Dan Moore Jr. to a massive contract. Many questioned the size of the contract and whether Moore was worth it, and ESPN sports betting analyst Pamela Maldonado says it's the biggest head-scratching signing of free agency so far.
It is a big contract and it might be a gamble, but the Titans desperately needed to upgrade its offensive line. This signing showed they weren't afraid to make that happen, no matter the cost. Their quarterback must be protected, and in 2024, neither Will Levis nor Mason Rudolph were well protected in the pocket. Did they overpay? Maybe. But we won't really know until we see him on the field this fall.
If we're being completely honest here, moving J.C. Latham back to his natural right tackle position and putting Moore on the other side means that Nicholas Petit-Frere isn't on the field. That's something Titans fans should not complain about, even if it cost more than they should have paid.
There have been other reports saying that this is a winning deal, too, so it's all a matter of perspective. The Titans are trying to improve, they're making moves, and that effort is what people want to see right now.

The Titans signing offensive tackle Dan Moore Jr. Giving him a four-year, $82 million contract feels like a massive gamble. Moore is now among the league's top-paid tackles despite his consistent struggles in pass protection. By committing substantial cap space on potential rather than proven performance, Tennessee risks limiting its ability to address other roster needs. If Moore doesn't dramatically improve, the Titans will be dealing with the costly consequences of this deal for years.
