ESPN’s NFL insider believes the Cleveland Browns have locked in on Penn State pass rusher Abdul Carter with the second pick in the 2025 NFL draft.
Adam Schefter reported the Browns will likely select the lethal pass rusher when they come on the clock next month with the No. 2 overall pick. Schefter reiterated that the NFL draft is a month away and things could change, but he believes the Browns will take the star defensive end.
Carter would be a fantastic addition to the Browns' defensive line. He’s one of the best defensive end prospects in a decade. The team must bolster the talent in their trenches. The unit was weakened when the Browns traded Za’Darius Smith during the season. Franchise leader Myles Garrett was upset at losing his partner in crime. Hopefully, the addition of Carter will help strengthen the frayed relationship between Garrett and the team.
Garrett will unlikely receive the franchise quarterback he asked for this offseason. The Browns do not seem sold on quarterback Shedeur Sanders as a franchise star. The Browns could be cooling on Sanders and his teammate, Travis Hunter. The team hasn’t been connected to either prospects lately. The Browns hold an important spot in the draft. The team has a choice between two generational talents. It sounds like the team is leaning toward Carter a month before the draft.
