The Washington Commanders made some pretty solid trades early in free agency to bring Deebo Samuel and Laremy Tunsil to the East Coast. In doing so, they added protection for Jayden Daniels and gave him an additional target to throw to during games. This is definitely a good thing, but the Commanders still have needs, and one way they can meet those needs is through another trade.
NFL Insider Ralph Vacchiano says that wide receiver Noah Brown could be trade bait for the Commanders.
Basically, Vacchiano says that Commanders are solid at the wide receiver position and should use Brown's consistency in the NFL as a way to entice other teams in for a trade. Not a bad plan, depending on which player(s) you're trying to get and if that team even needs a wide receiver. Brown is reliable, there's no question about that, and he could be more productive on another team.
The question is, what would Adam Peters want in return, and are there any NFL teams that can provide it? There aren't rumors about trading Brown right now, so it's doubtful if that's even on the table. The Commanders could very well decide to keep Brown for themselves, although Vacchiano isn't wrong about the depth. Besides, if they trade him, who is going to catch Daniels' next Hail Mary?
Brown is dependable and consistent; he's only fumbled the ball once in his seven-year career, and while he's not a superstar producer, he's a vastly underrated WR3 who can be relied upon in times of need. Whether the Commanders keep him or use him as trade bait on draft day remains to be seen. Another thing to remember about Brown: Not only is he coming off an injury, but other teams had the opportunity to sign him in the offseason before he agreed to return to Washington on a one-year deal.

He's a really good veteran receiver to have on the roster, and he feels like a lock for 30 catches and 450-plus yards every year. But he's expendable now that the Commanders traded for Deebo Samuel. Plus, clearing him out makes room for Luke McCaffrey, last year's third-rounder, to emerge as the No. 3 receiver. The Commanders also signed Michael Gallup, so they're pretty loaded at this position. Plenty of teams would love a reliable veteran to fill their No. 3 role, just like the Commanders were when they acquired him from Houston last August.
