I guess one could say if there's no college football this fall, then there will be no NFL games more than likely? When you think about it, college football players have a better chance of getting the virus because they have classes, with other students. So the risk is greater for them. NFL players don't have to be around students in a classroom, just their teammates in film study & on the field. Idk how this will all play out? I'm hoping the summer months kills the virus but heat has been said to have little to no effect on it. I just hope a cure is found soon & football returns in time for training camp?

The thing about this quarantine and social distancing is that it seems to me to set us up more to have a total and even worse outbreak this winter. By limiting its natural ongoing initial go around through our population, we will have a very low tolerance for it in the future with so few people building a natural resistance to it. I questioned our whole approach from the beginning. Trying to limit the death stats among the older and more feeble in our society, could I suppose lead to a worse scenario down the line. Hopefully, my thoughts have no substannce, we will have a successful vaccine within a year that most can tolerate, and most importantly, like many scientists fear, this bug can't and doesn't simply mutate yearly to defeat all our possible solutions. It is scary to think that, of all the things we fear, one day some invisible virus could be what eradicates man from our planet, or even much less end sports as we know and love it. Maybe they were here first though and feel it's their planet, not ours

From what I heard...... 75% of college revenue is derived by the in game and game day revenue at the stadiums. The NFL is almost the opposite, 75% of their revenue is derived from advertising and TV revenue.

This leads me to believe that the NFL will be highly motivated to play games even if the stadiums are empty. And that colleges will postpone the season until they can fill their stadiums up like the normally do.

I hear you there. My University of Kentucky season tickets renewal fee came due today in fact. $1340 later, they're paid. If there's no season, they had better put the money back in my account lol. UK also announced today that they plan on opening the campus back up for students in August. We shall see?

I wish we played NFL games on Saturdays always as is. NFL Sunday is such a terrible commitment right before heading back to work. Even worse for east coasters. College ball rarely has a relevant game that goes as late as Sunday Night Football, which is supposed to be one of, if not the best game of the week.

big difference is college has some juveniles playing too and they aren’t paid professionals.

You must have never had a sweat at 2:30am on the east coast hoping Hawaii covers and hits the over to make up for what you lost since noon that day. To be a little more honest normally the best non SEC game of the week is played at 7 or 8pm. The lead in to that is normally the best game in country at 3:30 on CBS which is the SEC game of the week. Nothing beats college football on from noon to 3am.

Big difference is the campus. If school is not back in the fall you are not going to be able to have practices.

If the NCAA is a no go, The NFL should look into games more nights of the week. They could give all the boys an extra 1-2 days recovery and just spread 16 games out over the 10 days. There’s got to be a way to rotate things fairly and equitably, while ensuring games are being played on a near nightly basis.

It's the greatest. On my end nothing beats having some breakfast at 9am, and watching some B1G football and hoping Purdue can beat the spread.

Yes sir. Like young players thinking they're invincible & can't catch the virus because of being young. Living their lives recklessly & doing nothing to protect themselves from catching it. I'm just ready for this $#!+ to end & football to start.

Too much money in the NFL, a lot of these guys are living paycheck to paycheck. They are going to play.

Maybe with fanless statiums, which would be a new experience. Id welcome it.

Might actually have football commentary

I've read that of all the major sports, the NFL is the least dependent on game attendance for their revenue. Game attendance only accounts for 15% of the NFL revenue, due to their huge TV and advertising contracts. I'm sure that the players and owners would be willing play in front of empty stadiums knowing that they will still get 85% of their revenue.

I sure hope you're right? Yes, it won't be the same without fans there but it will still be football & having that much is better than nothing. We all have big flat screen tvs to watch so that will have to be enough. A German company is working for the US pharmaceutical company Pfizer on a new drug right now (BNT162). The article said that Pfizer will begin testing the experimental vaccine on patients in the U.S as early as next week. They hope it will be ready by the fall? They also said they could have enough made to treat 300 million people by the end of 2020. Oxford University is also working on a new drug. There's another drug I read about from the "Chicago Tribune" called remdesivir that has been working on keeping patients from getting full blown covid-19. So it looks promising sort of. Let's keep our fingers crossed & stay safe.

Half joking, half serious, sports gaming wasn't legal in your area until recently, so it shouldn't count for keeping those games on Saturday. Living in Vegas, I know too many people sweating that kind of nonsense all the time...

I'd rather watch professional football all day long, where the games aren't constantly 7-60 blowouts watching kids get embarrassed for the cash benefit of the university. College ball is basically either watching the school you went to, waiting for an upset game, or praying the scheduling gods managed to put two talented teams together that haven't lost yet.

College is even worse with that one loss killing you. I don't know how to get amped for a team making the Orange Bowl outside of the championship... why?

That’s what makes the regular season so beautiful.

Within the past 5 years I’ve grown to enjoy watching college football more than pro. Living in the northeast I don’t have a dog in the college football fight I just enjoy it on the whole. The blowouts are not the norm and most times the bigger games of the week are close. Since the playoff the 1 loss doesn’t kill your season if it’s a good loss.

I’ve been gambling for the past 13 years on sports on a serious level. Was doing parlay cards when I was 12. I can’t tell you how much I miss college football parlay cards.

Ive been saying for a while that I have zero doubt there will be an NFL season. Out of all the sports, the NFL is the richest, will have had the most time to prepare for their season, and will be able to be as flexible or creative as needed. Games on saturdays, longer season, shorter season, games in neutreal sites, biodome scenario, etc.

The NFL could pull of any or all of these scenarios, and as others have mentioned, as long as they get it on TV they are making a money. I think its way to early to say there wont be a college football season, but the NFL will happen for sure.

They also have a more unique product because of Fantasy Football. People will watch more games because it has fantasy impact. Normally you might not watch a game between two teams you don't care about...but if you have a WR and a RB going in fantasy, and theres nothing else on...what the heck!

Possible false comparison - A truer measure of financial health might be "net revenue" (after expenses). I'm guessing that physical stadium expenses are much higher than digital broadcast expenses and expenses from seats, food etc. may be a higher percent of total revenue.
