I read somewhere once that they developed the protective cup years before the helmet...

Wearing a cup would be really uncomfortable while playing football.

Having played catcher when I was a kid, I'm quite familiar with the challenge of running in a cup. I can't EVEN imagine trying to play football with one on. Virtually impossible.

A female will tell you that giving birth is the most painful thing a person can experience. But females will give birth multiple times. If a guy takes a shot to the groin, he never, ever wants to experience that again.

No football players at any level do. Not even Pop Warner. I had a teammate in high school that did and almost lost a nut because he did.

I hope that's not true. I just paid big bucks for a half dozen 'cups' and was told that they were worn by Seattle players in last year's Super Bowl. If that guy ever comes back, I'm going to ask for my money back.

That must be a new development because Pop Warner REQUIRED it or you could not play in games. I played for 7 years and my nephew did a little of 5 years ago before he went into High School. We had to wear them as well. During weigh in they would walk down the line and have each kid "tap" on his cup to verify it was there.

Hmm, I played PW in the late 70's in Phoenix.. Our coach did a "cup check" by banging the end of a clipboard into your junk.

lol, how times have changed.. They would most likely arrest him for that now.
