But I thought DirecTV was purchased by At&T???

It was or was suppposed to be, not sure it has been finalized yet.

That's the hope, that AT&T will do something to create another avenue for people to get the games.

It was probably actually conditional on the renewal of contract because, really, why else would you buy DirecTV?

That's how I understood it. Part of the AT&T deal hinged on DirecTV renewing the rights to the NFL Sunday ticket. Still sounds like even if it expands to AT&T customers......it's still locked up for everyone else for the next 8. That sucks!

I will take RedZone for $7/month then the cost of NFL Sunday Ticket. I understand getting Sunday Ticket for those that can't get their favorite team on TV, but man thats alot of cash to spend on the NFL. :D

Surely they'll do some sort of Internet-only subscription at some point. Even HBO is looking into doing it.

I'm curious how much the NFL would get if it was offered to every provider as a non-exclusive package. Directv would still offer up quite a bit I would think to keep their subscribers who are there because of it and cable providers like Comcast and Time Warner would also pay quite a bit. I would think the additional providers would more than make up for the premium that Directv pays for exclusivity but I guess the NFL feels otherwise.

If we don't pay DirecTV we'll pay somebody else.

More then happy to pay Directv... The service is good to great... And it's a nominal price for the product...

Yeah, I pay DirecTV without too much complaining. I mean, even if you were just buying it for Card games and nothing else its still less than $15 a game.

What I don't like is the de facto price increase we get every year because they still charge the same but more games are becoming available thru NFL channel, ESPN and now CBS. Plus I gotta call them every year and threaten to cancel just to get a decent rate. That's minor stuff in the grand scheme of things.

I stopped renewing Sunday Ticket a few years ago. I do miss being able to choose the non-Card games I want to watch if the national broadcast matchup sucks, but not sure that is worth the money for ST.

As long as the Cards' sellout streak continues I'm good with the local market broadcasts (i get the Phoenix channels). I love the Cards, but if the NFL stops the free broadcasts I'm likely to decide to find something else to do on Sundays.

I know. That's a yearly ritual for me too, and a stupid one at that.

Keep in mind that AT&T is not the original AT&T, but a spinoff, Southwestern Bell, headquartered, I believe, in San Antonio. I say this because there is perception that AT&T is the "god/ goddess (Ma Bell)" when it comes to communications. Think of the new company as a knockoff.

There are weeks like this one where this stuff infuriates me. THe Cards and Denver has to be the marquee game, but it's not on in the Bay Area. So I have to watch it on the internet on an unreliable feed and deal with all the hassles of that, or I have to pay for Directv, which I don't really want because I can't get the pac 12 network.

Not prepared to switch back and forth so I get the NFL then drop it for Comcast to get pac 12 basketball, just not practical with contracts and stuff they throw in there.

The internet only option was great but now they took that away, I nearly asked a friend if I could use his apartment # to pay for that and then watch the games at my place but I decided not to because they set it up such that it has to be the billing address and that became too complicated.

Abit off topic (sort of) but xbmc has a lot of hd streams of games now I also watch all Pac12 in 1080 it takes some set up but it's worth it to me.
I have DTV and just RedZone (free) cuz that's all I ever watched and like others call every year to haggle but if the NFL keeps adding all these stupid rules I'm not going to be watching like I used to and certainly won't be paying to watch a flag on every pass play

I might have to look into something like that. I get Pac 12 fine so I can watch UCLA on Comcast/Xfinity, but then I can't watch the Cards. last year I had the Madden 25th anniversary deal so I got a year of Directv online that way. I even asked them can I renew next year and they assured me there would be a way, but the way involves you proving you can't get Directv at your billing address and of course I actually now can, I just don't want it since I already have comcast.

You can use another address but again it's the billing address so you have to hassle with having your bill sent somewhere else etc.

I hate this too. In Vegas, there's really not another broadband provider besides Cox, and of course, purchasing internet alone is practically as expensive as adding cable TV to the package. So, if I ever want DirecTV for the games, I have to pay a ridiculous amount.

There's plenty of bars or friends' places to go to, but I'd like to just sit on my own couch for once instead of having to get up, get dressed, set fantasy rosters, and be out the door to be somewhere by 10.
