NFL owners came to an agreement Monday that will reduce the window for flexing Thursday Night Football games from 28 days to 21.
The final vote was 26-6. This was a far less contentious discussion than the original one in 2023 when the NFL wanted the window to be 15 days and a number of owners balked, big time.
There has been one game flexed in the two years this has existed: A Chargers-Broncos game last year moved to Thursday with a Bengals-Browns contest shifted to Sunday.
"Certainly, there are some people that are still not the biggest fans of it," NFL VP of media distribution Hans Schroeder said at the owners meetings in Florida, "but an overwhelming number of membership approved it. We're excited to have it. We think it's a win for our fans and for Amazon moving forward."
