After 10 long years, David Andrews' run with the New England Patriots has officially come to an end.
The longtime captain was released by the team on Thursday in a move that sent shockwaves throughout Patriots nation. Andrews was one of the last remaining pillars of the Super Bowl era in New England.
He was on the field when the team completed the greatest comeback in history at Super Bowl LI, and he was also there when they overcame a historically great defense against Aaron Donald and the Los Angeles Rams at Super Bowl LIII.
A two-time Super Bowl champion and eight-time team captain, Andrews went from being a roster hopeful as an undrafted rookie free agent in 2015 to one of the greatest players in franchise history.
"David Andrews' career success is a shining example of what every NFL prospect should strive to achieve," Patriots owner Robert Kraft said in a statement, via Patriots.com.

First Jonathan Jones not David Andrews gone from the Patriots locker room.
Two guys who went undrafted and have been staples for that football team. Leadership that will be missed and shows its truly a new age in New England https://t.co/i1pdTLrQhb

This is tough.
My favorite ever Patriots/Chiefs moment was David Andrews waving goodbye to Arrowhead Stadium.
Patriots legend personified.

Another story involving a small gesture that showed David Andrews' reputation in the locker room, even as a really young player: I asked Tom Brady if he'd have time to discuss Andrews' progression as a starter. Brady was busy, so he asked me to meet him the next day. Players get…

Over the past several years when the @patriots had some real difficult losses…David Andrews was always the first one to the podium.
The toughest was the last second loss in Vegas on the Chandler Jones scoop and score. A stunning defeat. Jakobi Meyers was in tears in the locker… pic.twitter.com/kpjvEq1Eqt

Losing Jonathan Jones yesterday and now this David Andrews news really feels like the end of an era in Foxboro. Appreciate everything @dandrews61 did for the New England Patriots. Great player and a class act. DA will be missed. https://t.co/tq65r5xGOB

David Andrews wasn't just well-respected for his leadership or his high-level play. It was also his mind. Every player would talk about it.
Andrews' memory was on par with Tom Brady. Andrews' football IQ rivaled the GOAT. You couldn't outsmart Andrews at the center of that OL. https://t.co/NM8JP8sr90

End of an era in Foxboro. You won’t find many players that are more respected or well-liked in any organization than David Andrews is with the @Patriots. https://t.co/VGE1erggxs
