Colorado ATH SHAUN DEWITTY commits to ASU...
You must be registered for see images
Shaun Dewitty (6-2, 190) ATH from Doherty HS in Colorado Springs

Highly recruited athlete SHAUN DEWITTY announced his commitment this afternoon to Arizona State. Doherty Athletic Director Lance Cunico just confirmed that Dewitty, who rushed for over 2,200 yards and scored 38 TD's this season, chose the Sun Devils over UCLA and Kansas State. Dewitty was a big priority for ASU in this recruiting class because he's versitle enough to play WR and DB in addition to the RB spot. Dewitty is also a track star at Doherty and had bests of 10.9 in the 100m and 23-8 in the long jump. This is another big pickup for the Devils who are on quite a roll heading towards signing day February 2nd.

This was a nice "get" and Shaw was a recruiting class saver. Overall though, I'm not real impressed with ASU's group so far. Rivals has them rated at #37. UofA is rated at #16.

The good news though is that ranking college recruits makes ranking NFL draftees look like an exact science by comparision.

yea but the thing with asu's class is that all of these kids will qualify,on uofa's side there might be 4to5 who wont.i hope this isnt the case i would like to see all of these kids get in.

The Cactus Raunch sure is a good source for UofA football recruiting, isn't it?

The rank of a recruiting class means crap to me until they do something on the field.

Putting any stock in recruiting analysis means your a sucker anyways. Texas always "outrecruits" Oklahoma. According to these websites, USC should not lose for the next five eyars thanks to their classes. Even Mackovic supposedly brought in good recruiting classes according to these websites and how did that work out?

That is true....to a point.

Individuals coming out of high school, it's a crap shoot. But the correlation between schools being ranked in the top 10 or 20 in recruiting year after year and being ranked in the top 10 or 20 of the polls year after year is pretty damn high. Texas maybe can't beat Oklahoma, but they've got an impressive streak of starting and finishing high in the polls lately. Like ASU and UofA has any room to talk crap on Texas' recruiting.

take a look at oklahoma starters i dont have it in front of me but i would guess that their 2 deep on off. & def. is 80% texas kids, while usc is basically all southern cal hs kids so the national title was basically cal vs texas kids. amazing athletes on both those teams and yes mao usc is so stacked they might not lose for another 5 years, obviously this wont happen but the talent on that team is scary. their 3rd stringers would start almost across the board on both ua and asu.

Sorry, missed it....didn't realize I caused such a problem.

So, I'm guessing now you see ASU at #11, the Okies fallin' short at #10, and the Vols leadin' the pack to knock off the condoms ;)
