We need another linebacker. We might be able to draft one in the early rounds, but there is also the possibility of Green Bays fifth year linebacker Nick Barnett.

One of my good friends is a fan of them and he tells me that, as Adrian Peterson is on top of their draftboard they might be willing to include Barnett in a trade of draftpicks if Peterson is still on at number five.
Then we could sign Barnett to his present deal now and extend next year for example.

I think this would be a good move by us. With Green Bays pick at number sixteen we might be able to grab Okoye and Staley, Sears, Ugoh, Griffin would almost for sure be there.

If Thomas do not fall to us, and Green Bay wants this deal, I say go for it.

By the way, in Green Bay they more or less agree that his best position is weakside.

Trading down to #16 is too far.

There are about 11-13 players in the 1st draft bracket. We shouldn't pass on the chance to get one of those 13 players.

We should not trade further down than the #7 - #10 area, where we can get Brown, Landy, Willis or Okoye

If he was any good they would not have used the 5th pick on AJ Hawk last year.

No offense, but that is ridiculous. Every team needs more than one good linebacker and Packers really needed someone else than just Nick Barnett. AJ Hawk was one of the guys in the draft who you for sure could say that he at least would be a solid starter and Packers really didn't have any other good linebacker than Nick Barnett.

Nick Barnett leaded the team in tackle the first 3 seasons in Green Bay and actually leaded the team in tackles for loss in this season too. I don't know if any of you guys saw Packers against the Seahawks in a monday night game last season but that game really showed how important Nick Barnett is for the Packers. He for once did not play because of an injury and he was so missed that i couldn't believe it. I think that all Packers fans would agree on that.

I'm forced to agree that this is ridiculous. Green Bay needed two more linebackers to team with Barnett. Barnett could easily play outside linebacker and is much better than anyone we have. He is one of the better linebackers in the league. That said we would need more draft picks for this to go down...

I actually agree on this post. I do however think that this trade would be pretty fair. If the Cards should have more draft picks i don't think it should be much more. How much more were you thinking?

Moving from #16 to #5 cost 700 points - or the same as the #26 pick. Nick Barnett is not worth the 26th overall pick IMO. On paper he's worth around a high 2nd rounder, so the moving up to #5 would cost at least a 3rd pick on top of Barnett.

But in reality the situation is very different. Why on Earth would the Cards make a trade like that? Barnett is entering the last year on the contract, and will need a new deal if he comes here. Why would the Cards pay 700 points for a middle LB, who wants a new deal and then move him to OLB? You can get Briggs, a two time Pro Bowl OLB, for 700 points. The Packers will have to pay big time to trade up IMO.

And even if they did, I wouldn't do it! The price you pay from moving out of the 1st draft bracket is too high. By moving down to #16, you miss out on Levi Brown, Landry, Willis and the D-Linemen. No Way!

Ok I would do our first for barnett, their first and a fourth. With the 16th pick we take Reggie Nelson. In the 2nd we take best available OT. Nelson is IMO going to be the best defensive player to come out of this draft.
