The Philadelphia 76ers have been in need of able bodies to get on the floor and produce for them on the floor when considering all of the injuries they have sustained. Therefore, they made a move to bring back Chuma Okeke on Sunday on a 10-day deal.
Okeke had been signed to a 10-day deal earlier in the season back in February and had played in garbage time in a Feb. 7 loss to the Detroit Pistons. He played 15:56 in Sunday's win over the Dallas Mavericks and had five points and four rebounds including knocking down a big 3 in the fourth to keep Dallas at bay.
Before the win, coach Nick Nurse gave his thoughts on the Sixers bringing back Okeke.
"We need a body," Nurse told reporters. "That’s for sure. Had him, didn't get much of a look at him, kind of like him, so I’m glad he’s back."
Okeke, a former first-round pick of the Orlando Magic back in 2019, has had his career decimated by injuries after a solid collegiate career at Auburn. He will be looking to revive things for himself in Philadelphia as he will likely get a lot of opportunities down this final stretch of the season.
