PHILADELPHIA -- The Philadelphia 76ers are sitting at 22-44 after a 112-100 loss to the Indiana Pacers. With 16 games left on the season, the Sixers still have to play out the string and see what they can take with them heading into the offseason and the future.

There are some younger pieces on this roster such as Adem Bona, Ricky Council IV, and Jeff Dowtin Jr. to evaluate. Then, there's some new pieces such as Jalen Hood-Schifino and Oshae Brissett to look at and figure out how they fit into future plans.

That is the challenge for coach Nick Nurse. He doesn't know if stars Paul George and Tyrese Maxey are going to play down the stretch. Therefore, the focus is going to be on the youngsters.

"Well, I think that, you know, the guys, especially that we're needing to see," Nurse said of his evaluation down the stretch. "Like, Bona is probably in this group tonight. One of the guys at the top of the list. It's good. He could play that many minutes, be on the glass, score, block shots."

Bona had 16 points, nine rebounds, and a block in the loss to the Pacers as he continues to take steps forward. Nurse is looking forward to his development and him being able to take steps in his growth as a rookie.

"That's what we need him to keep—and I think he battled a little bit of an ankle problem there in the second half," Nurse added. "He didn’t look like it on that dunk that he had an ankle problem, but he's certainly one guy we're looking at really closely to keep improving, get more minutes."

Along with Bona, the Sixers have to figure out what they have in the youngsters and the new additions. With 16 games left and with so many injuries, they will have plenty of time to do all of that.

"Then some of the other guys, Ricky and Jared, and then Jalen and Oshae too, to see what they have," Nurse added. "I mean, we just got to get these guys some minutes and see what level, and if they can help us by getting these minutes down the road."

The Sixers will begin a 6-game road trip on Sunday when they take on the Dallas Mavericks.
