1. Pekovic stats in that stretch are better.
1b. You forgot to mention Pekovic shooting 61.3%FG compared to Gortat 55.1%FG. These are both numbers for the entire season by the way.
Gortat was over 60% and leading the league in FG% for several weeks. Did you forget that?
Gortat still is the 5th most efficient center in the NBA (eff 21.0). Pekovic 17th (eff 15.2).
2. Pekovic is 2 years younger
Wow. 2 years younger.
3. Pekovic plays on the better team
They have a better offense as well which means more opportunities.
4. Pekovic is a 2nd year player (Gortat 5)
Gortat didn't get consistant playing time until last year and he is on a team where he is not relied upon to score.
5. Pekovic does not have Nash assisting him. Pekovic is assisted on 65% of his, Gortat 80%.
Means nothing. That is dependent on your role and it doesn't matter how many shots Gortat is assisted on. He still shoots almost 5.5 of 10 shots via jump shots and makes them. It's not like the majority of his shots are layups and dunks.
For every 10 shots......5.5 come from Jump shots, 3.7 from around the rim (not all are pick and rolls), .4 are dunks and .4 are tips. So at least 6 of every 10 shots Gortat makes are not off the pick and rolls as you falsely claim.
In terms of Nash, put Pekovic on this team and his assisted numbers go way up. The Suns wouldn't be playing him on the block here. It's not how this offense works unless you have not been paying attention.
6. Pekovic does not rely on finishing pick and rolls for the vast majority of his offense.
Neither does Gortat. About 60% of his shots are not pick and roll points. Nash only accounts 10.9 assist per game. So unless your going to ridiculously argue that all those assist go to Gortat and that they are all pick N rolls.....you are wrong. Gortat gets plenty of assist form other guys and they are not pick and rolls. We only have one guy on this team good at that and he assists other players on this team.
7. Pekovic topped Gortats career high points twice already this month.
He has a different role.
.8 points, .5 rebounds, even blocks, fewer steals.
That is what separates the players and the Suns still have not found their center but Minnesota has?
Also it is not like Gortat is a super stud defensively. He is good man-to-man and at best average on help defense.
So explain to me Pekovic's excuse. The Suns from the Center position have the 7th ranked team in defensive efficiency from the Center position. Minnesota is 25th in the NBA. Gortat plays on a team that plays a significant amount of small ball still at the Center position. Minnesota on the other hand goes to 2 seven footers in Darko and Miller or Love for stretches. The Suns don't have any quality backup at Center but are more efficient both offensively and defensively from that spot.
Considering how useless Lopez is that should tell you something about Gortat.
Slinslin, when all is said and done Pekovic might turn out to be the better center but it's not like he is HA, TD or DH. Gortat and Pekovic are in the same tier with each other. That shows how ridiculous you are being once again.
