I have new respect for some of the 9er players who called out the fans.

And I have renewed disdain and contempt for a large portion of the 9er fanbase. Nothing new from what I've seen going on in the stadium for years and years.

"Several 49ers offensive players, who remained on the field while Campbell was being examined, gestured to the crowd to halt the wave."

I had a 49ers fan friend that came to my desk at work tried to give me a handshake for a good game on Monday.. I waved him away.. He looked at me like I was crazy.. Not shaking hands with them folks again..

Yeah I was very upset during the game and even after, there is no excuse for that. I have zero respect for that crowd.

I hate everything about that franchise and it's fans. And I hate the fact that so many of the "fans" have no connection to the Bay Area. They grew up while Joe Montana and Steve Young were winning superbowls and decided to become "49er Fans". Third only to the Steelers and Cowboys when it comes to fans with no real reason to be a "fan". I grew up in Arizona and am therefore a Cardinals fan, a Suns fan, a D-Backs fan and a Coyotes fan. I went to the U of A, so I am a U of A fan. It never occurred to me to become a Steeler, Yankee, Los Angeles Kings, Celtics, Alabama football, Kentucky basketball fan.

This was bad, but Texans fans cheering Schaub's injury was much worse. And, before we all feel high and mighty, I was at the Cards game when the crowd cheered Kent Graham getting hurt so Jake Plummer could get in the game. And, it was not some insignificant minority either.

Yep. Ask them who John Brodie is and they'll give you a confused look.

Last year when Kolb got hurt some ass next to me said something like "Thank God, now my boy John Skelton will get in there and lead us to victory."
Douche.

I loved the top 5 things to do at a 9er game in the comments.

I prayed for Levi to get hurt. My conscience is clear.

I didn't think it would happen after the trade though.

NFL fans are terrible. I took my lil cousin to a Cards game last year and people were drunk getting into swearing matches with kids around. I mean get a life... It's obviously not every single fan but I don't plan on going back. Maybe the alcohol-free section in time.

I was almost in a physical altercation with a Hags fan and his fat girlfriend when they cheered Skelton getting hurt.

I hear you man, unfortunately we have a lot of those types of fans in this state. I see more Steelers stickers on vehicles than I do Cardinals, by far.

Growing up in Indiana in the '70s, I hated Monday mornings at school after a Cardinals loss. All of the other kids were Cowboys, Steelers and Dolphins fans (this was years before the Colts moved to Indy), and felt superior because the teams that they picked to be their favorite were winning most of the time.

Even back then, I would constantly come back at them for being bandwagon fans.

This is a constant in our universe that will probably never change.

I was there as well, I couldn't believe it. I would not hope any player gets hurt, in fact I wish for no injuries to either team every week. When we beat someone I want them to be at full strength.

Cheering is one thing, the wave doesnt really bother me. The wave is more of a time killing crowd thing. Sure a guy is injured but you have 50,000 bored fans waiting for a game to start.

Cheering is a whole nother animal and not an acceptable thing really. I think a bigger deal has been made of it than needs be.

The wave happens during 7th inning stretches and etc - its not a cheer its a bored crowd activity.

the wave should never happen again, anywhere.

I got really irritated at our last home game when the wave got started and it was while WE HAD THE BALL!!! So, we had the ridiculous situation of our own offense players trying to quiet the crowd. Even worse, the yahoos who got it going sit in my section.

Ya, didn't they all see the GIANT signs telling them to be quiet when the offense had the ball.

Dummies.
