Still hard to believe that Boldin has been with 3 different teams and has been in the playoffs 6 consecutive seasons. He has 68 receptions for 1033 yards and 8 TDs, and he didn't even play vs GB and NO after the '09 season. His teams are 11-5 in the post season.

2 Super Bowls and 4 Conference Championship games.

Ol' GAM has to be getting tired. :D

I think retrospectively (and quite a few posters were saying it at the time) we should have made more of an effort to keep Boldin.

I haven't really forgiven him for his antics after the NFC Championship game, but he's still a very good player.

My arguement is that we should have treated our players better rather than trying harder to sign them. By the end, there was no way Boldin was staying in AZ.

The other issue is we never fileld the void Boldin left. It wasn't about not paying him 8 mil per year, it is we never used that savings to sign a legititmate player. We didn't use the money to sign a top OT or pass rusher or QB or defensive lineman. We failed to replace his production as well as failing to use the money to upgrade the roster elsewhere.

ok...that doesn't change the fact that the Cardinals failed to replace his production or upgrade a premium position with the money we saved. I know what the trade compensation was and who we drafted with it, my point is the Cardinals moved on from Boldin because they weren't willing to pay him the money he wanted prefering to put that money elsewhere. However, they never did so to any tangible benefit to the roster.

The same situation is potentially looming with Larry Fitzgerald. I am ok with the Cardinals moving on from Fitzgerald, but my expectation is that they use that money to improve a more premium position if they decide too. Otherwise they are just cutting salary to cut salary.

One of those picks was used to trade up for D-Wash.

If I remember correctly, and believe me I may be off base here, the Cards traded their original 3rd to move up to get DWash and their original 4th to acquire Kerry Rhodes. They used the Ravens picks to get Roberts and traded down with New Orleans and selected O'Brien Schofield. But having those extra picks allowed them to make the trades.
