So we know a few things about New Jersey, Miami and Toronto this off-season:
Toronto is apparently not thrilled with Bargnani, and they have a log jam at PG. They also have a hole at Small Forward.
Miami wants to get rid of the #2 pick and move down (but stay in the top 10). They need a Center and a Point guard.
New Jersey wants to cut payroll by moving Jefferson and rebuild before they move to NYC.
So here's my idea:
New Jersey sends:
Richard Jefferson
2008 1st Round Pick (#10)
New Jersey receives:
Udonis Haslem
Mark Blount
2008 1st Round Pick (#2)
Toronto sends:
TJ Ford
Andrea Bargnani
Maceo Baston
Toronto receives:
Richard Jefferson
Miami sends:
Udonis Haslem
Mark Blount
2008 1st Round pick (#2)
Miami receives:
TJ Ford
Andrea Bargnani
Maceo Baston
2008 1st Round Pick (#10)
Toronto does this trade because they eliminate their PG log jam, and get rid of Bargnani who they aren't thrilled with. They get a Small Forward and star type player that can play next to Bosh. Their lineup is: C Nesterovic PF Bosh SF Jefferson SG Anthony Parker PG Calderon
Miami gets out of the #2 pick like they wanted, but they keep a #10 pick. They get a guy who can play the 5 in Bargnani and a above average PG in TJ Ford. They can then either draft a Center at 10 (moving Bargnani to the 4) or a Small Forward (moving Marion the the 4). At 10 there are probably more SFs available, so a lineup of C Bargnani PF Marion SF Dorrell Wright/#10 pick (Randolph? Alexander? Greene? Gallinari?) SG Wade PG TJ Ford is a playoff team for sure.
New Jersey gets rid of Jefferson contract and gets a nice player in Haslem. They can let Blount rot on the bench until his deal is up if need be (though he's certainly serviceable). They can take Beasley with the #2 and be in good shape. A lineup of C Josh Boone PF Haslem SF Beasley SG Carter PG Harris is alright I suppose. Beasley would perhaps be out of position at the 3, but they don't have anyone better (theyd probably take a true SF at 21).
Thoughts?
