Looks like all us who were expecting DerMarr to make the squad were wrong.

"• The club is expected to release guard DerMarr Johnson, trimming the roster to 17 players. "

I thought he did well in the time given this preseason. How he goes before Weathers or Sheppard is beyond me. Hope he is able to catch on somewhere, it seens he still has the talent just needs to get fully recovered.

Hmmm......but then how come Foul a Minute Sheppard lasted longer? Oh wait it must be the impressive 9 boards in 43 minutes this preseason, DerMarr was only able to grab 7 in 14 minutes.

That's strange, I thought DJohnson had the inside track for the backup PF spot.

Consider this. Maybe the Suns let him go because they knew he was not going to make the team, so they wanted to give him a chance to latch on with another team. Ray Weathers is not going to make any NBA roster.

Then they should have either made room for him on this team by sending Casey to Utah who I think would glady take him for a second round pick or they should have locked him up and let him prove his value in preseason and then use him as trade bait later on.

Yeah they should. Call their office, since you seem to know what Utah wants to do.

I don't think there's any evidence that Utah would take Jacobsen. There are a lot of 6' 5" Mormons who aren't NBA-level players. Jacobsen is merely one of them.

Casey Jacobsen was very high on Utah's list at draft day.

New Jersesy, Utah and Phoenix were the teams rumored to have most interesst in Jacobsen.

Yes, but now Jacobsen has spent the last year showing what he can't do. How many teams were interested in Tsakalildis before his Greek team tricked them into thinking he wouldn't be available?

Actually a lot of the game tapes I have doesn't have the Suns announcers.
You could not imagine how much the other teams announcers were raving about Jacobsen on many occasions.

Ahh, the opposing team's announcers from last season... that's a reliable source. I wonder if fans from other teams are listening to Gary Bender. :)

Too bad about DerMarr. :(

I expect that the Suns know what they're doing, but I hope he's able to catch on somewhere else and finish his comeback.

As for Casey Jacobsen, plenty of teams would take him if he was free. Think of all of the NBA players in summer league that played worse than he did.

I was pleasantly surprised by Jacobsen last year in one respect: I wasn't sure he had the bare minimum of athletic ability he would need to avoid being a total liability on defense, but he showed me that he'll be able to survive on the court when his shot starts falling again.

When Jacobsen starts cashing in on 28-foot layups, he'll change (most of) your minds about whether he's worth keeping or not.

And, of course, Tsakalidis was rumored to go to Milwaukee with a top-10 pick before the contract business; I guess that makes Big Jake the Maciej Lampe of three years ago.

Good thing the Bucks wound up with that other guy instead--what was his name again?

As long as FJ's the coach, it would be a waste of money to get anyone that big to sit on the bench.
