Didn't see the game and was hoping to find some opinions on Bethel's play last night. Either I missed the comments or no opinion was given. Hoping he wasn't mentioned because he looked ok at #2 CB...

He looked pretty good against ATL.
People just need to have realistic expectations about his progress. He's gonna get targeted ALOT and he will probably give up a lot of catches, but if he can limit the big plays and atleast keep QB's honest with good plays every so often, that's all we need from him. If he can be average I feel like we'll be ok.
and note that Miller was playing late against scrubs and Bethel was playing against ATLs firsts .. I said it before and will say it again, there is absolutely no reason to worry with Bethel opposite PP... he is healthy (which is the first we have seen that since he became a CB and not just a Special Teams ace) and he is good... as a matter of fact, you may see PP get challenged a little more this year because the 'other' guy is damned good...
he has looked good... just hoping it aint deceptively good, lol. At the moment it looks like the staffs unwillingness to go sign a starting corner was because they knew what we did not.Boy I hope that's even remotely true. I haven't seen a single snap in preseason this year but my issue with Bethel has always been he doesn't play the ball in the air, and he has this really bad habit of freezing when the ball is in the air so even if he's in decent position he loses position by the time the ball gets there. Frankly as a CB he has scared the crap out of me.
I have always felt he was a safety, he plays the ball in front of him just fine.
I sure hope he's improved
