Looks like Martz will be a gonner after this season too. I doubt Singletary wants that type of O.

The dynamic between Martz and Singletary will be interesting.
A powder keg in the making.

INteresting move, local media says that Nolan went to management and said I'm seeing rumors I'm out after the next game, if that's true, just fire me now, so they did.

I respect him for doing that, no sense being a lame duck coach for a week for no reason.

I hope the 49ers don't respond to Singletary like the Rams did to Haslett.

With Holmgren's announced retirement at the end of the season Whiz will be the NFC West's only returning head coach next year.

Is this the 49er's way of throwing in the towel this year and getting ready for next year? Or are they trying to salvage the 08 season.

This whole division is a mess except for us. We are in a position to be King of the Hill for a little while.

I think they looked at ST. Louis and what happened after they changed coaches and thought we might as well do it now and hope to get the same response from the team....this could be bad for us, Singletary is a motivator, Martz will handle the x's and the o's

The York family has a common trait. It is called stupidity. Nolan will not be without a job for long.

Other coaches who will be gone and create openings.

1. Herm Edwards
2. Andy Reid
3. Wade Phillips ( Jason Garrett is an automatic )
4. Rod Marinelli ( Millen hire casualty )
5. Marvin Lewis

Sounds sort of like what happened with Gene Stallings and the Cardinals.

In 2002, per ESPN, a group of Alumni at Baylor University promoted Singletary for the school's open head coaching position, holding a conference call (which included Mike Ditka and Dave McGinnis) with the university administration. The position ultimately went to Guy Morriss. Singletary at the time had no head or assistant coaching experience and the university president later stated that they wanted to hire a coach with prior "head coaching experience".

Weird.

They've been playing hard, they just aren't good. Promoting Singletary isn't going to make O'Sullivan or Hill into NFL-quality quarterbacks. I'm sure the team has heard Singletary's motivational speeches over the years.

He is going to be in over his head, IMO.

Lou Holtz like?

Its pretty bad. Listen to the "America's Game" commercials they loop over and over again on NFL Network. You can tell. I would hate to get prep talks from him pregame.
