David Ford is the top-ranked player in the NCAA golf rankings. He proved worthy of that spot Tuesday.

The senior at North Carolina won the 2025 Valspar Intercollegiate at Floridian Yacht and Golf Club, beating a field that included top-ranked amateur Luke Clanton, reigning Haskins winner Jackson Koivun and numerous other top players this season. Ford, who earned his third victory this year, shot 68-63-64 to finish at 18 under, good for a two-stroke win over Texas' Daniel Bennett and Oklahoma's Jase Summy.

With the win, Ford receives an exemption into the PGA Tour's 2026 Valspar Championship at Innisbrook Resort. Clanton won the Valspar Collegiate last year and played in the event over the weekend, making the 4-hour drive across Florida Sunday to join his Florida State teammates placing T-42 in the Valspar. Even after a crazy weekend, Clanton placed solo seventh at 10 under, eight behind Ford.

Koivun, a sophomore at Auburn, tied for fourth, finishing at 11 under for the week.

In the team competition, No. 2 Texas ran away for a 13-shot win over third-ranked Arizona State. Florida State, Oklahoma and Auburn rounded out the top five in one of the best fields of the season leading up to the national championship.

The win is Texas' third of the spring, with Bennett leading the way while Christiaan Maas and Jack Gilbert tied for eighth.
