Bergen Catholic senior Declan Wucherpfennig was one of six finalists for the North Jersey High School Sports Awards Boys Basketball Player of the Year Award last season, eventually won by Don Bosco's Dylan Harper. Against Camden Catholic, he scored 16 points to help lead his team back after trailing 43-34.

According to northjersey.com’s Greg Mattura, Bergen Catholic has now won championships in its last three finals appearances, including 2019 and 2022. It is their sixth state title, including 1978, 1994 and 2002.
The 2024-25 North Jersey High School Sports Awards, Presented by Hospital for Special Surgery, are June 27 at Passaic County Technical Institute. Tickets are on sale now.
