Jaden Brown scored 18 points, including a pair of free throws with 18 seconds left, to lead Bergen Catholic to its sixth New Jersey state championship with a 52-49 win over Camden Catholic.

Julius Avent blocked a game-tying 3-point attempt in the game’s final seconds to secure the win.

Bergen Catholic senior Declan Wucherpfennig was one of six finalists for the North Jersey High School Sports Awards Boys Basketball Player of the Year Award last season, eventually won by Don Bosco's Dylan Harper. Against Camden Catholic, he scored 16 points to help lead his team back after trailing 43-34.

Bergen Catholic finishes 27-5.

According to northjersey.com’s Greg Mattura, Bergen Catholic has now won championships in its last three finals appearances, including 2019 and 2022. It is their sixth state title, including 1978, 1994 and 2002.
