That Cardinals are obviously targeting him....and I think he would look awesome in Cardinal red.....but does he want to come here? Taking off my rosecolored glasses for a second. The area is great, a 50 minute plane ride to San Diego, the weather is nice during the winter (hey it gets cold near the ocean in SD) and we will probably be able to offer more money than any one else.

The con of this is, Seau is a competitor, he knows we aren't going to sniff the SB this year, why come here? The Bidwill's don't offer the same perks as other owners...by perks I am talking about the little things like team supplied shoes and crap like that. Not to mention the fan support in the Valley towards the Cardinals is next to nothing. So again I ask, why come here?

To be honest: Why bring him here?

Seau has more than lost a step, and has been known to free lance to the detriment of his team. I hope that we don't bring him in. We will have to pay for a big name player, who at this moment, is not a big time player anymore.

Emmitt is still productive, and teams need more than one capable back in todays NFL. Heck we started three different runningbacks last year (Jones, Anderson, and Shipp). It would make me more confident that we could run the ball if Emmitt was brought in.

Seems stupid to me too, but players bitch out this stuff. I think Aeneas is still pissed he had to buy his own shoes. I guess in my mind it would be like my company telling me to buy my own laptop to do work for them

Yeah, but laptops cost a a lot more that a t-shirt or a pair of shoes. Hahaha!

If a player complains about that, and Aeneas is the only one who I have heard complain, they should be given a swift kick to the lips. There are people that don't have any clothes and he complains about not getting them for free? I bet he wanted to send them to family so he didn't have to Christmas shop. I think that the Aeneas thing was blown out of proportion. He is the only one that said that and he is a flat out idiot for saying it.

I am sure that the Cardinals supply ample amounts of shoes, gloves, tshirts etc. However, if I owned the team, it would not be a friggen free for all with the supplies...especially for punk millionaires. Screw Aeneas and his selfishness.

Then you were on board about the Cards not giving DB a signing bonus and earning his money the old fashioned way, actually playing in the games.

People wonder why there is always a mass exodus of talent on this team. Rice called us the armpit of the NFL, he now is playing hard selfless D and may be the best RDE in football. Aeneas will be in the Hall of Fame but now he is a selfish punk. He resigned with the Cards when he could have easily gone elsewhere and was in his prime. Then he goes to a team that shows the players that they are important and that they are appreciated and comments on this. Maybe the problem is how the Bidwill's treat their players. If you own a NFL team then you basically have a license to print money, yet the Bidwill's cry poverty and scrooge the players on simple things like supplying equipment.

Even fast food and retail companies supply shirts for their employees. It's common sense for a company to show their employees that they care about them. If all it takes is some free shirts then give it to them. If an employee feels that the company does not care about them then they are not nearly as productive and often will look for work elsewhere. Treat people with respect and consideration and their effort will be greatly improved. This is basic psychology 101 for crying out loud.

Seau Activity Heats Up

According to KFFL, the following teams were mentioned (probably by Junior's agent) as being interested in Seau: Cards, Lions, Detroit, GB, Seattle and Miami.

Miami was reported to have made trade overatures to SD but Schottenheimer denied knowledge of any trade offers.

Yes and even Bidwill and the Cards do supply jerseys, shoes and such for the players, what they dont supply is EXTRA equipment. Much as McDonalds when I hire on will give me 3 shirts, if I want extra guess what I gotta pay for the extra and I am making minimum wage, so the extra $20 is like 4 hours of work for me. To a player like Williams earning $2 mil or about $1000 an hour tobuy a pair of shoes for $100 is like 6 minutes of work. So I dont really see why they should complain if they want extra stuff like baseball caps, extra work out shoes, etc.

jason...

your point is true - for those of us that live in the "real world" - these pro atheletes have been coddled since childhood, or whenever they showed their aptitude for their sport - they have distorted attitudes that are as much the fault of the coaches, school administrators, local law enforcement and others who put them on their pedestal.

Let try to remember that NFL players don't pay retail for team supplied equiptment. Due to the current collective bargaining agreement with the Player's Association, all equiptment supplied by the team (other than necessary uniform suppies like jerseys) can be no more than $2.00!

Let me say this again...TWO DOLLARS for a pair of Nikes or Reeboks?

If I remember the Aeneas article correctly, he was griping about what a pain in the a$$ it was when he wanted to give shoes and t-shirts to poor kids that made in to watch preseason parctices and such...

NFL players get a smoking deal, in my opinion.

Perks shmerks...

At least Junior Seau is an honorable guy.

That's hard to find in the NFL anymore.

Just a few years ago, Seau was nearing the final year of a 4 or 5 year contract and everyone was speculating, because of his high level of play, if he would try and renegotiate the deal. Junior said he never gave it any thought. He said "I signed my current contract and am going to honor it."

The above statement is completely false. I have seen guys ask for and receive many different items from the equipment room with no problem. It has been this way for years. Don't let the comments of one player distort your views.

Thank God someone can shed some light on this.
I always thought Aeneas' comments were strange.

Flip Wilson used to say "The devil made me do it".

I guess maybe in Aeneas' case (and Swann too) that should be changed to "God directed me to do it".
