Cornerback Mike Jenkins, who was limited by a neck injury in training camp, hyperextended his knee Wednesday. If he misses the opener, the Cowboys may have only three cornerbacks active against the Jets. Other starting CB Terence Newman, with a groin injury which forced him to miss all of preseason, is ruled out for the opener.

jenkins will play sunday and newman is said to be close to playing. if he misses the opener he will likely start in week 2. the problem for dallas is that even if these guys are healthy....they lack physical toughness at corner. they can cover when they are healthy, but they are not the most sure tacklers out there and it hurts them in yards after contact.

the good thing for the cardinals is they get cam newton. i went to the bengals/panthers preseason game and the guy looked very unprepared to play in the NFL. he could even get a completion to steve smith if he was uncovered. jimmy clausen didn't look much better. i don't think he attempted a pass beyond 5 yards.
