People do remember who coaches the Rams defense?

After yesterday the Rams have allowed 300 points, the only team in the NFL to reach 300.

But it would be nice if this game was a sign we're starting to figure out the offense and the OL is getting better, and not a sign that Larry Marmie could make that guy in Napoleon Dynamite look like an all pro QB. Right now I suspect this was like the New Orleans game last year when Emmitt and Hambrick both went over 100 yards rushing and we all thought the run game was fixed.

Uhh maybe. Warner and hell McSideline for that matter have not had any problems running up yards against too many teams. Where we fail is in the red zone b/c we cant run the ball.

If you remember in the first meeting the Rams dline was in the backfield all day and Oliver Ross made Leonard Little look like a pro bowler . I think it is safe to assume this team improved over that game. Hell just the fact that we showed some semblance of a running game proved that!

Believe me I'm happy too but at the 10 game mark I alway like to look at standings and teams because even my math genius allows me to easily compute points per game when a team has played 10 games. ANd if you look, the Rams are giving up 30 PPG.

So just as Green was saying part of our record is due to how tough the schedule is, the counter is the 3 wins have come against the teams that rank 1st in Points allowed(rams) 3rd in Points allowed(49ers) and 6th in Points allowed (Titans).

I agree with you Russ. I was hoping someone else noticed it. I didn't want to bring it up otherwise I would have been lambasted as a Warner hater. I think he played very well no doubt, but he was complimented with our best running performance of the year. Let's wait to see what happens next week.

Russ:

And didn't the Rams have SS Adam Archuleta go out with a concussion in the first half yesterday? If there's one starter on that defense whose loss impacts both the run and pass defense--not to mention their ability to pressure the opposing QB--it's Archuleta.

A win is a win and this was a dominating win on the ROAD!

Yes the Rams defense sucks, but we still had to make plays and score points. This is the second game in a row on the road where Warner and the offense have moved the ball and scored TDs without any big mistakes.

The key to winning this game was that the defense finally decided to make some tackles.

Personally I think Archuleta is way overrated!

I know the rams D is terrible....but you still have to put a hat on 'em. And we did. The O-line has shown signs of life the last few weeks.

And, if you are going to mention how bad the rams Rush D is, I think you gotta mention that we played some pretty good rush Ds through the first 10 games.

Russ and Clif are just bitter because this game proves to the masses of cardnals fans' that mobility in a QB is the most overatted concept in the history of football.

True because I am the leader of the McCown fan club.

I'm just pointing out we'll learn a lot more next week against Jax than we did yesterday against the worst scoring defense in the NFL. Jax gives up 17 PPG, which is 4th best in the NFL and their defense is 5th in fewest total yards allowed.

If we can run the ball against them next week I'll feel a lot better.

Mobility isn't overrated when they shoot gaps like our O line is welded to the ground.

No one ever thought Josh was good, just the best option to avoid death behind this line.

Let's see how all of it fairs against an average defense, not great, not awful just average, before thinking it's all fixed.

Warner fumbled right off the bat and we countered all day with three step drops.

We could run a bit and that helped tremendously, just remember that we played a team that is imploding, having Marmie as a DC and who just recently had a player call out it's D line and say they can't stop anyone.

Thanks Russ, I also pointed out this tidbit that eveyone seems to forget on another thread. There tends to be a lot of kneejerk reactions around this message board (remember eveyone anointing Josh the savior after the 49ers game) after only one game when what we need to look for is consistency.

Jax is going to destroy AZ next week. It's going to be U - G -L- Y, ugly. Ugly. Yo mamma says your ugly.

Jacksonville is a very, very good team that can run the ball extremely well and has a defensive line that will tear us apart.

Also, who is going to cover Matt Jones? If you have him on your fantasy squad, you shoud start him. He's going to have a very big day on Sunday.

Matt Jones is having the JJ Arrington effect. Green leaks rumors he thinks JJ is a bust, and JJ's played better every week since. Del Rio announces he's demoting Jones behind Wilford because he makes too many mistakes and tries to catch everything with 1 hand and now he's got 4 TD's in his last 5 games and is starting to show he's going to be a frighteningly good player when he learns what he's doing.

At least there's only 3 normal days for most of us before the game, we may have to wait until next week to have the we should have drafted Leftwich threads.

That would be two games in a row that Warner has looked good. When Josh won against the Niners I was the first one to bring up that he didn't really look that good (Failed to find open WR and over threw them we he did, failed to throw the ball away, locked onto his receivers).

In Warners last two games he saw the field really well and he spread the ball around. He was able to find the Open receivers. He didn't make any mistakes. It appears that he is starting to get his timing down with Boldin and Fitzgerald. This was the Kurt Warner I was hoping to see.

MCD:

It's also significant that Kurt Warner hasn't thrown an INT in the last two games, and that he's taken only one sack. He's getting the ball out quicker, helping his o-line to pass block more effectively, and he's clearly become more familiar with his receiving corps. That familiarity means everything in terms of establishing a rhythm, and making the accurate, on-time throws we saw yesterday. (And having both Boldin and Fitzgerald healthy at the same time doesn't hurt.)

Your more than welcome to bring it up. Its just funny that when Josh blows up a pathetic team you never mention how bad that team is.

Our best running performance was 98 yds hardly something to get excited over. Warner made those short out and curl in passes work just like a running game as the old Rams did. I think Warner played one of the most complete games from beginning to end than any QB we have had for some years. He is QB smart and you do not lose that from game to game. Like any other QB he can get hurt but at the moment he looks to be the best option we have for next year. Yesterday he said he wants to stay here. Give him a real running game and he can step it up every week. Hopefully, next year we can line up the same guys on the OL week after week and develop some consistency. I think we have the best tandem receivers in football and Warner can get them the ball and change plays at the line. You can bet those receivers like this.

Odds and ends: 25% of all games in the NFL this year have been decided by a field goal or less. That speaks for itself. No need to wonder why we gave Rackers a nice raise and contract.

We were a 9 1/2 point underdog. The money people must have got it all wrong about just how bad the Rams are?

I am not trying to make this a warner vs mccown debate. I simply was agreeing that we need a wait and see type attitude.

It is nice to be able to be mobile and do all the other things but mobility is just one of many things that make a QB. Some of our greatest QB's of all time have been pure pocket passers with no speed what so ever. Some things you never can really measure such as seeing the field or recognizing defenses and being football smart. Manning is not a guy that is fleet of foot and is I think the best QB in football today. He is very much a pocket passer. Vick is a good QB but I do not think will ever be an all pro QB as he moves around to much which can disrupt your own offense. Jake is much better since he now is not nearly the scrambler he once was. Terry Bradshaw learned early on that he needed to stay in the pocket when possible. Troy Aikman was a great pocket passer who was not fleet afoot. McNabb is an outstanding QB who can run but he is now paying the price. I could probably outrun Marino another all pro qb.

I am not sure what we will learn as we are still one of the worst teams in the NFL. I am interested to see if the OL can hold their own against some of these top tier teams. I do not see us making a lot of yards on the ground as we have been and continue to be the worst in the NFL. We can win some if Warner is given enough time to hit the two of the best receivers in the NFL and our runners can gain around 100 yards or just enough to keep the opposition honest. Philly is beatable now without McNabb and they seem to have lost their heart. No way we beat the colts. They have everything.
