FSU played terrible defense on that penalized TD at the end. 3 guys got "picked" by one blocking WR.

They couldn't cover Corey Robinson.

Disagree, they had 2 guys running picks on that play. Doug Flutie said it was a bad call because the guy covering the WR who scored wasn't picked, but that's irrelevant, the 2 other defenders were unable to get over to pick him up because they were both being picked.

Does it go uncalled often, absolutely ,but 2 blatant picks on one play can't complain if it gets called.

The game was officiated by ACC officials. They blow. That play came from the 2 yd line. Wasn't much room for "downfield" blocking to be called. FSU didn't even attempt to cover Robinson. So now the playoffs can be decided by a last play judgement call.

Now I will sit back and watch Louisville beat Free Shoes U.

"It was pretty clear what happened on the play," Kelly said Sunday afternoon, per Blue and Gold Illustrated. "Florida State blew the coverage and got rewarded for it. It's unfortunate."

Kelly said he had "less clarity" on the call at the time of his Sunday teleconference than he did Saturday night. The official play-by-play of the game indicated the flag was called on C.J. Prosise, though Kelly says he has been told the call was actually made against Will Fuller -- an issue Kelly said "just adds more uncertainty."

Kelly said Fuller ran his route on the play correctly, and legally.

"He did not go out of his way to impede the defender," Kelly said. "The official that was furthest from the play that has the ability to see it saw it differently."

Kelly also said that officials had admitted they "missed" seeing Florida State cornerback P.J. Williams remove his helmet on the field after the negated touchdown, by rule a 15-yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty.

The ACC explanation makes it perfectly clear. WR's are not allowed to block downfield at any time after the snap before the ball is touched, unless the ball is first touched BEHIND the LOS. If you watch the replay, the ball is caught just past the LOS.

If Kelly wants to blame someone, blame himself or his OC for drawing up a play that's by rule a penalty. If they just run that route a foot shorter, he's behind the LOS and it's a legal play.

Very few non-Notre Dame fans, if any, think it was a bad call. It was about as obvious as it gets really.

It was unarguably the right call. Brian Kelly just looks like a whiny little b*tch complaining about it.

I didn't either team to win, but I would have rather had ND win because it would have meant so much more when they come here and we beat them. I honestly think that we match up well against the Irish. Plus being home is huge. I just hope both teams win out until they meet (at least ASU).

The reality is that if the refs didn't make this call, there would never be a case to call a pick... Ever. This was text book.
Also heard that the formation Notre Dame used on that play totally tipped off the refs to be looking for a pick. It is felt by many that Kelly should have known this and therefore should have used a different formation, or, he should have made 100% sure that his WR's knew not to block prior to the pass being made! This is totally on Kelly and nobody else.
FWIW, they let Winston dominate in the second half... Screw this call - they blew the game by somehow letting Winston go nuts in the second half. ND had this game and they blew it...
