You can take a name off of Notre Dame football’s safety recruiting board, as Florida 2026 star Simeon Caldwell committed to Ohio State on Thursday morning.

The 6-foot, 3-inch and 185-pounder was set to make an official visit to see South Bend, but with his commitment that has now been canceled according to On3’s Hayes Fawcett. Caldwell is one of the top prospects in the in country, ranking as the No. 95 overall player in the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Notre Dame currently does not have a commitment in the 2026 class at the position, and many of their top targets don’t hold them in high regard. The Irish are trying to flip Georgia commit Zech Fort, who was on campus last week. Other new names will pop up as the cycle continues to see players making their decisions, but you can cross off Caldwell’s name as a real option for the Irish.
