Don't know if it's true or not, but i keep hearing and reading that the Nuggets are the front runners for Kenyon Martin.

But why? They already have Nene and Camby in their front court.

If they sign Martin, does this put Nene on the trading block?

If so, do we have enough to trade for Nene, who would make a formidable duo with Amare?

My guess is that Joe Johnson or our 2005 top 3 protected pick from Chicago would be our main trading pieces in such a deal for Nene.

If we were to trade JJ for Nene, i don't think we should have to add anything else in the deal, since both JJ and Nene haven't exactly lit up the league since joining, and both have alot of potential to be very good so their trade value should be on par with each other.

IMO it would be a good deal for both sides, but since Nene is a center and centers are sometimes worth more than swing men, maybe we would have to add something like the rights to Milos Vujanic,a future first rounder or Casey Jacobsen/Jake Voskhul to the deal.

Then with our remanning cap space we can sign a shooting guard to replace JJ.

Pg-Nash
SG-Q-Richardson/Manu Ginobili
SF-Marion
PF-Amare
C-Nene

Thats a lineup i can live with :D

Thoughts?

Nene is not really a center, he is a power forward.

The Nuggets are resigning Camby to a big contract to play center for them.
Nene might be his backup but is not a center.

He's 6-11 265lbs Thats bigger than anyone we currently have.

And he guarded alot of teams Big centers that Camby couldn't handle last year.

Amare and Nene would be a scary tandem in the near future if we could pull off this trade.

You obviously are not watching the games.
Nene is not 6' 11". He is maybe 6' 10" and in the games he did not look any taller than Amare. He is a wide body and is going to be a very good player.

I would like to have him on the suns, but he is not a center. He can backup and play against other centers because he is big, but he is a power forward and we have the future perennial all-star power forward on the suns named Amare.

Antonio McDyess is the same height as Nene, but not as big, but can play center for the suns probably better than Nene can.

The suns need a true center and if they get one will be able to compete with any team in the NBA.

Like I said, Nene is going to be a good player, but we do not need another power forward with our need for a center.

There is no way that Nene is 6'11. Camby is at least an inch taller. I do think that Nene is closer to 6'9.

One of the reasons the Nuggets are so anxious to get K-Mart is that Nene was not in shape last season and did not progress like people expected. I don't think the Nets will let K-Mart go. But in trying to sign him, they may hope to light a fire under Nene.

Another reason is that they just agreed to a long term deal with a guy with injury history.

I do remember that Nene was measured in Chicago two years ago. Does anyone still have those numbers? There shouldn't be any need to speculate on his height.

My memory is that he measured at least an inch taller than Stoudemire.

Thanks for that link, SunsTzu! I didn't realize nbadraft.net kept those archived.

So Nene is 3/4" taller than Stoudemire (or at least was two years ago). And he is a solid 6' 10" in NBA height, if not 6' 11".

Nene and Martin and very different players, I don't think signing Martin would mean the Nuggets have to dump Nene.

I swear that Camby is true 7-footer then.

Amare Stoudemire 6'10
Nene Hilario 6'10 1/4

I was going by their heights without shoes, but you're right, their height in shoes is probably more relevant.

Of course, a player's "shoe add-on" is more likely to change throughout his career.

Let's agree that Nene is "up to an inch" taller. :D

Or was. I think Amare may be a bit bigger than when he entered the league. At least I recall reading an article this past season where his verticle reach was just over 9'1 and the predraft has him at 9' 1/2.

I live in Denver and Nene is overrated and does not bring any more to the table than McDyess. Camby had to cover for all of Nene short falls on defense and he can only score around the basket.

no - the nets offered martin for nene straight up and we said no. we would need all 3 (camby, nene, kmart) to form a 3 man frontcourt rotation.

no thanks. plenty of SGs just as good as, if not better, than JJ in FA and we like nene. plus we have TONS of stockpiled future draft picks.

Nene may have shortcomings but he's just as good or better than anyone we have playing C right now. He has long arms and is strong and semi-athletic. Plus theres some upside left in him.
