O/T Snow

just been out for lunch and on the way back had a snow ball fight with my wife needless to say i won and was picking her throws out of the air like anquan sees a football 'as big as a beach ball'

really does it ever snow over there ??

I live in Flagstaff. We are at about 7,000 feet. We got about two or three inches of snow last night.

Another New Mexico fan here. Saturday morning and its snowing pretty heavily here in Albuquerque. Nice to have skiing just a half hour away. That's where I'm headed.

Snow-clogged Carolinas expected to thaw

Much of the snow that snarled parts of the Carolinas the past two days may melt this weekend.

Forecasters are predicting temperatures as high as 55 degrees.

But it been cold overnight, creating slick roads in Charlotte, N.C. Four traffic deaths in South Carolina are blamed on the two storms that moved through Thursday.

Snowfall totals as high as 18 inches were reported. Charlotte had a record 11.6 inches Thursday, breaking a 78-year-old record by more than 5 inches.

In Raleigh, N.C., the snow stranded travelers across the area, and delayed departure of some National Guard units to Iraq.

THe Catalina Mtns on the North side of Tucson have a pretty decent snow pack this year. Its great to look up from the tee box in your short sleeve shirt and see the snow knowing you wont have to shovel it.

Once every ten years or so, it will snow enough in Phoenix to stick on the ground.

I have lived here 31 years and have had snow on the ground twice. Once when I was 13 and once when I was about 26? 5 years ago or so.

I've seen it flurry several times but melt when it hit the ground.

Erie, PA routinely gets over 200 inches a year, and it's not even in the mountains.

Snow flurries here in the desert north of Carefree (AZ) this morning but no buildup. We usually get three storms per winter that result in measurable snow. None so far this winter.

Drought sucks.

Last I heard, we needed to be 36 inches above normal in one year to get out of drought conditions.

It's going to be dry for a long, long time.

Still wearing shorts and t-shirts here in AZ. Have only been a handful of days where long pants or a second shirt/sweatshirt were even necessary.

If we want snow, we just drive up north and enjoy it.

Yeah we need a lot more rain and snow to get out of our extreme drought here in NM. Its the same for most western states.
We could use about 200" of new snow in the mountains.

365, this year 366, days of being able to go where you want when you want. Never snowed in, never waiting for the roads to be cleared. Also - our ice cream businesses are open year round, as opposed to many places back East and up North where they are seasonal.

Much easier to "cool off" than "warm up."

Life wih a air conditioner on your back... No thanks! I'll wear a parka. You can add clothes to feel warm and comfortable... unless you can somehow remove skin, there is no way be comfortable outdoors in 100 degrees. And by the way: There is no "cream" in your ice cream. Come north you'll taste real ice cream for the first time in your life!

If 100 would bother you, this area is definitely not for you. We laugh at 100. We mock 100. Ha ha ha 100. It's often 110 or more for weeks at a time and not that long ago we hit 122. And while there are some that gripe, most of us that live here and love it here just relish it.

Try this, O frozen child of the NORTH:

- My van doesn't slip on sunshine and won't rust out.
- I only own one sweater, one windbreaker and no coats.
- When we go out to eat, we often dine on the outdoor patios - year round.

* slippery roads is an adrenalin rush, no big deal... as for rust, you got me there...

- I only own one sweater, one windbreaker and no coats.

* up here that wardrobe comes with a Tin Cup and pencils...

- When we go out to eat, we often dine on the outdoor patios - year round.

* so, I guess - sweat dripping into one's food is not frowned upon down there...
