Per Clayton at ESPN.

I cant see the Cards bringing him in with his DUI issues.

I can't see us bringing him in because he's not a homerun back. Pass.

I dont know. We did just draft a 7th rounder who had a run in with the law only 1 month ago.

I dont think he would come here because he doesnt want to be in Edge's shadow again.

I would take him if he wants to though. All I have to ask myself is, is so and so better then JJ or Shipp.

dont need him.

So we dont need a guy who averaged 4 yards a carry behind a worse OL then ours last year. A guy who can be counted on to get us 100 yard games if he had to start. A guy that is better then JJ or Shipp? He can improve on any one of those two guys and if he can be an improvement why dont we need him. He isnt going to cost much.

They did it with Emmitt Smith and Troy Hambrick.

So it wouldn't surprise me to see them do it again.

Difference is, it wasnt Troys choice to come to AZ, he was traded. Rhodes has a choice.

I know. I just thought it would be kind of deja vu.

Maybe Rhodes has come to the realization his best spot in the NFL is to be the main backup? Plus I am not sure if he liked or didnt like Edge or not. I know that most of Edge's teammates think of him highly, Manning even called him the best teammate he has ever had, so maybe Rhodes wont mind being in his shadow again?

he would stunt hightowers growth. we will not sign rhodes. the coaches really see something special in hightower. and i see it in his highlights. i want to see him play, not sit behind a drunk driver.

I brought this up in the draft thread. I figured they would cut someone, honestly I thought it would be Lamont Jordan. I would bring in Rhodes and let him compete. It may slow down the progress of Hightower, but it also makes for a great insurance policy.

I would gladly take Rhodes here.

As joeshmo already stated, he is an upgrade over JJ and Ship. Backed up Edge before and has played for a top notch team (colts).

Many on this board have stated they are more than a little nervous about the depth at this position. If Edge goes down then what????????????

Getting Rhodes would reduce that concern big time.

Rhodes

Unless, we have someone else on the radar, who we expect to become available, I'm all for bringing him in.

Competition breeds success, and Hightower can get all the reps he needs preseason where Edge doesnt play, and in 2009 when Edge is probably no longer on the team. What ever pushes both JJ and Shipp and their combined 120 yards of rushing off of this team is a good thing.

Kirwan and Ryan on SIRIUS put the Cards at the top of four teams where Rhodes might be considered a good fit. They felt he had a smidge more breakaway speed than Edge, can catch out of the background and appeared to be more productive than Arrington - and therefore could be the complimentary back we're looking for.

Mwelde Moore would have been the perfect complimentary back that we are looking for, why didn't we sign him????

Yep, I heard that segment as well. I don't remember the smidge faster part but I'm sure your are right. They have the best show on Sirius by far.

Bring in Dominic, cut Edge maybe to save cap room to get a Q deal done?

Just a thought. I'd hate to see Edge go though.

Knee jerk reaction IMHO. Q probably wouldn't want to get his money at the expense of Edge, especially this year. Edge is under appreciated by some on this board, dude is a warrior.

Q is still under contract so we don't have to cut anyone to give him an extention, at least not this year.

Just an idear. I'd rather have Edge than Dominic. I love Edge (in a strictly platonic fan way).

I see Dominic going to Detroit where he can be a starter. I know they took Kevin Smith, but he'd give them more depth.

Me too.

You did say that you would hate to see him go so no worries.

I don't think anyone in his/her right mind is suggesting that Rhodes should enter and Edge should exit.

It's more an issue of "who should compliment Edge at RB?": Rhodes vs. Marcel, JJ, Baylark, Vincent or Hightower or forget about it?

RB stable next year: Edge, Hightower, Rhodes.........now that sound pretty decent to me.......you can flip flop Hightower/Rhodes or Rhodes/Hightower............let the back-up battle begin...
