Play the Ocean's 12 Mastermind Challenge
Source: Warner Bros. Pictures
November 13, 2004

Yahoo!, Warner Bros. Pictures and Village Roadshow Pictures have launched "Mastermind Challenge," an Ocean's Twelve interactive promotion inspired by the highly anticipated sequel to the 2001 blockbuster Ocean's Eleven, starring George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Andy Garcia, Don Cheadle, Bernie Mac and Julia Roberts. Ocean's Twelve reunites the Ocean's Eleven ensemble cast and welcomes Oscar winner Catherine Zeta-Jones and acclaimed French actor Vincent Cassel for a new adventure set in Europe.

The "Mastermind Challenge" will run for six weeks at Oceans12.net prior to the film's release on December 10, 2004. Visitors to the site will get the opportunity to join the heist by simply signing up to receive two "clues" each week that are drawn from plot elements of Ocean's Twelve.

Venturing around Yahoo! Search, Yahoo! Maps, Yahoo! Finance, etc., entrants find what they need to decipher the clues. Those who answer all 12 clues correctly are entered for a chance to win a grand prize of a trip for two to the European locations featured in the film: Amsterdam, Paris, and Rome. Additional prizes include six trips for two to Las Vegas with a stay at the Bellagio Hotel and Casino and 50 Ocean's Eleven DVDs.

In addition to the online contest, consumers can also participate in a promotion through their mobile phones on Yahoo! Mobile via the majority of wireless carriers. Once signed up for the sweepstakes, entrants receive and text in answers to trivia questions related to Ocean's Twelve, as well as the first movie, Ocean's Eleven, for a chance to win the grand prize - a flat panel TV, a DVD player, an Ocean's Eleven DVD, a Verizon Samsung SCH-A670 Camera Phone and a $50 gift certificate redeemable at Verizon stores. Three additional prizes of a DVD player and an Ocean's Eleven DVD will also be awarded.

"We're thrilled to be partnering with Warner Bros. Pictures and Village Roadshow Pictures to create this unique promotion that allows consumers to take part in the fun of 'Ocean's Twelve'," said Doug Hirsch, general manager of Yahoo! Entertainment. "We think that visitors to the site will find the puzzles fun and intriguing, and one lucky winner will be able to follow in Danny Ocean's footsteps across Europe."

As bad as 11. Amazing how it can be bad with so many good actors and actresses.

You're just bitter because Joe wasn't in it. :D

I saw it yesterday, the script wasn't as good as the first one but the movie is still good IMO. B+

I just watched it. It was funny and entertaining, but I thought the end was a little cheesy. I had to watch the ending twice because it didn’t make much sense the first time.

Spoilers….

I want to know how the nightfox was able to get back through those lasers while carrying the imitation egg. He barely made it through the first time with free hands.

I loved 11 and 13 but for years I've put off watching Ocean's 12. Since I received the three pack on Blu-Ray for Xmas, I decided to give it a try last night. Even though it reviewed poorly, I thought enough time had passed to sufficiently lower my expectations, especially since it was coupled with the high I was still feeling from the Cards win over the Cowboys. I was wrong.

I'll admit, I WAS impressed by the heist. The way everybody got together and managed to steal the studio's money was quite impressive. I understood everything that happened in the movie but I'm still puzzled a couple of things. How in the world did they get the green light to make a 3rd movie and why didn't this travesty of film making cost someone their career. I'd rather watch a double feature of Entrapment and Wing Commander every day for the rest of my life than to ever have to re-visit this movie.

Thank you for proving my point about the 3rd installment in a movie series. I guess I'll get accused of being a hater again.

Wasn't your point that the 3rd movie was always the worst? The post you just quoted was about the 2nd movie. And I completely agree with AzSteven's post.

Actually, Steve referred to Oceans 13 with this:
How in the world did they get the green light to make a 3rd movie and why didn't this travesty of film making cost someone their career.

That's what I was commenting on. I should have made it more specific.

I absolutely hated, hated, hated the whole "You know who you look like....Julia Roberts!" nonsense. Completely took me out of the movie watching experience and was just lazy writing. Stupid.

Talk about jumping the shark. The movie wasn't flowing well at that point but it still had a chance to recover until they went that route. It was lame, it was unbelievable and they followed it up with the weakest excuse for an extended cameo (Bruce Willis) that I have ever seen.

Which one did that one happen in? That upset me to no end and I walked out, that's how bad it was.

Btw, I hate TV guide. Talk about jumping the shark...they bought the jump the shark website and changed it to basically a TV guide website. Crap.

Yeah, that was Ocean's 12. I didn't know about TV guide. At least it's not Disney. They would have copyrighted the phrase and made us send in a buck every time we used it.

Yeah, then I didn't see Oceans 13. Completely killed the movies, that idiotic Julia Roberts bit. If it were for maybe 5 minutes, it would have sucked, but that's all. It went for, what, a half an hour? Ugh.

13 isn't bad. It's MUCH closer to Ocean's 11 than it is to Ocean's 12. If 11 was just so-so for you, I'd skip 13 but if you really liked 11 than 13 is definitely worth a watch.
