My question is this: if the Dolphins jump ahead and take NY’s top tackle, do they then go defense, or just take the next best tackle?

How much would it suck if after a full offseason of believing QBs might come off the board in the top 7, it turns out to be the defenders and the top OTs?

Well, from what I am reading if Miami trades up to 3 this is what I am expecting
1. Burrow
2. Young
3. Wills
4. Wirfs
5. Herbert
6. Tua / Thomas
7. Brown/Okudah
So I am expecting Simmons to be there at this moment

I sure would be holding my breath at that point.
If this happens take the highest rated player between Brown, Okudah, Simmons and call it a day. Maybe trade down a spot or two if all are equal and if there is opportunity. But don't trade down too far and let legit blue chip talent on defense slip through! That would be a huge mistake!

The interesting thing is everyone seems to think it's possible now not a single WR goes in the top 10 and at most 1. Not because they're down on them but because there's so many good ones at the top, nobody wants to trade up to get one. The perception on OL is they're not as good, not a sure thing, so the lack of supply is creating demand and people want to trade up to get a good one before they're all gone.
I saw a mock on NFL.com that had Lamb, Jeudy, Ruggs and Jefferson all going between 10 and 15, that is once someone takes one the others are going fairly quickly behind.
So it seems unlikely we'll take a WR at 8 if we stay put, and it also seems unlikely any of the top 4-5 are going to be there. If we still had the 2 I'd be hoping Reagor falls to us there but we don't so my guess is we won't get a Wr until later in the draft.
My gut says we're taking Simmons.
