D'backs should try to get Melvin to take the bench coach job. It doesn't appear there is going to be any more manager positions available at this point in time. The Diamondbacks were a different team when Melvin left to coach the Mariners, and with a rookie manager taking the helm, Backman needs all the help he can get.
Also, possibly give the 3rd base job to Pedrique then you would effectively have 3 guys with Major League managerial experience (counting Backman) on the coaching staff. Well, maybe you can't quite count Pedrique with the guys he coached last year
