Offering Direct Downloads for sale

I'm starting up an ecommerce set up and was wondering if anyone had any experience offering direct downloads of purchased content. Unfortunately most of the content I will be offering is pretty big in size, up to 1 gig uncompressed HDvideo.

Any ideas? I have plenty of server space, 3TB or so and monthly bandwidth of 300 GB. I really have no idea what software packages to run to offer this for download after the payment process is completed.
