It'll be an interesting offseason for the Ohio State basketball team. The Buckeyesfailed to make it to the NCAA Tournament and showed more inconsistency than the Central Ohio weather in the spring. It'll be hard in today's day and age to keep the roster together, but it'll be the first order of business for head coach Jake Diebler to keep the most important parts intact to try and turn things around next season.

And while we've already heard that one OSU player is hitting the transfer portal, the Buckeyes got some good news on Thursday when guard John Mobley Jr. announced his decision to return to the banks of the Olentangy via social media.

Mobley should be considered one of the core players the program would like to keep. Not only is he only entering his sophomore season, but he was one of the best three-point shooters in the Big Ten and showed an ability to be a playmaker that still has plenty of upside. He averaged 13 points and 2.2 assists per contest and shot 38.5% from beyond the arc, a number that dipped below over 40% through much of the season as things wound down.

If Mobley can work on being more consistent and cut down on the turnovers that plagued him at times, he's got the makings of becoming an All-Big Ten performer. Now we'll be on watch to see if arguably Ohio State's best player, guard Bruce Thornton, decides to return for his last season in the Scarlet and Gray.
