CANTON – By the end of Saturday, the Division IV boys basketball picture will be crystal clear.

The stage for what should be an incredible state semifinal happens at 1 p.m. with Glenville (19-7) and Hawken (20-7) playing in a final four contest at Canton Memorial Field House.

The Tarblooders beat Warrensville Heights 50-40 to advance and win Region 13. The Hawks stopped Jonathan Alder 63-58 to claim Region 14.

Where can I watch the OHSAA Division IV state semifinal?​


Glenville and Hawken can be watched on Spectrum. It’s also streaming on the NFHS Network.

Who does the winner get in the OHSAA Division IV final?​

Zanesville Maysville (26-3), which was a 75-73 winner in double overtime against Cincinnati Wyoming (25-3) on Friday night. The Division IV state final is Friday at 4:15 at UD Arena on the University of Dayton campus.

Have any of these four teams ever played in an OHSAA state semifinal?​


Glenville and Hawken are making their first state semifinal appearance.

Maysville reached the Division II state final last season but fell 68-54 to Kettering Alter. The Panthers also made the semifinals in 1971 but dropped a 71-61 contest to Warren Champion.

Wyoming has been in two state semifinals but is making its first final four appearance since 1942. The Cowboys fell 42-38 to Lorain Clearview. In 1938, Canal Fulton stopped Wyoming 54-40. Both games were in the round of four

Players to watch on Glenville and Hawken​


The Tarblooders have a big three in Xavier Vickerstaff (15.7 points per game, 8.4 rebounds per game) Arvell Nelson Jr. (10.0 ppg, 4.0 rpg) and Theo Castro (9.0 ppg, 4.3 assists per game).

The Hawks are paced by Greg Price (21.0 points per game). Freshman phenom Ice Taylor scored 28 points in a 73-49 regional semifinal win over Elida. Da’Ron Hill is also a name to watch.
