When it rains, it pours.

In this case, that's a good thing. The Edmonton Oilers' scoring troubles are gone for now after they walloped the Utah Hockey Club to the tune of a 7-1 final score on Tuesday night.

Key Player Grades

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins: A+

How's that for a turnaround?

With a goal (a shorthanded beauty, no less) and two assists, Nugent-Hopkins has put up back-to-back three-point nights from the third line. On top of that, Nugent-Hopkins also led the Oilers in expected goals share at a whopping 94.2%.

The Oilers were clearly feeling good about Nugent-Hopkins on the third line after Sunday's win in New York. After his performance on Tuesday, he might never leave.

Zach Hyman: A+

Whatever kept Hyman out of Sunday's game, it wasn't ailing him on Tuesday. He picked up his 23rd and 24th goals of the season, plus an assist, to bring his season total up to 40 points for the fourth straight year in Edmonton.

Connor McDavid: A+

McDavid was McDavid on Tuesday night, picking up another three points (1G, 2A) without breaking a sweat.

Well, maybe he did break a sweat on his late-first-period goal:

Tuesday's performance extends McDavid's point streak to 12 games, during which he has scored 4 goals and 19 points. His new line with Hyman and Jeff Skinner earned an xG share of 83.7%, just behind Nugent-Hopkins' third line.

Of course, there were more than three key players in Edmonton's 7-1 win. Mattias Ekholm had his own three-point night in his first game back after a six-game absence, while Calvin Pickard saved 29 of 30 shots in his second consecutive win. Viktor Arvidsson scored his second goal in as many games, while his linemate Vasily Podkolzin broke through for a goal of his own.

Somehow, despite the Oilers' offensive onslaught, Leon Draisaitl's point streak was snapped at 18 games, and he's still searching for that elusive 50th goal. C'est la vie.

After stumbling in the darkness for a few weeks following the 4 Nations break, the Oilers seem to be back. They've allowed just one goal in each of the past three games, and they're now getting offensive contributions from up and down the lineup. With the playoffs just a month away, their recent run of play couldn't have come at a better time.
