if the suns keep 15 people on the roster (including demarr johnson) that mean that the suns have to cut 3 of these 4 players.

robert archibald
cezary trybanski
nick sheppard
Ray Weathers

2 of these guys have contracts that run for at least another year.
i think we can all understand nick sheppard and ray weathers getting cut. that leaves us with robert archibald (the beast) and cezary trybanski (the pole). also maybe the suns might think about buying out knights contract. that wont mean that he is off the roster before the end of the season (so we wouldnt have to pay the tax for him) we wouldnt have to get any teams draft picks to take him.

so suns fans whos dreams are you going to crush?

Archibald might have played well enough to earn a roster spot last night.

Good idea for a thread...I was thinking the same thing myself.

Sheppard and Weathers are toast; I doubt that Brevin Knight will be moved by the end of training camp. So, somebody's going to get cut from this list:

Archibald
DerMarr Johnson--not going to be playing for the minimum very long, IMO
Trybanski--the Suns would have to eat the rest of his two-year contract (over $3m?)
Koturovic--Zarko wouldn't like that at all...
Scott Williams--kick him upstairs to the coaching staff?

I say, cut Trybanski. It's not my money. ;)

I don't see the Pole helping the Suns any time before his contract expires.

Maybe the Suns could pay half his contract and ship him somewhere else. I read that eight teams offered him a contract after his workout. Who knows, maybe one of those teams still has feelings for him?

Shep and Weathers will get cut.

I don't know about Archibald. They've had their eyes on him for a couple of years and every team can use one of those fearless "enforcer" types. Consider him "protection" for Steph or Amare.

They could as Scott Wil to retire. But, to me, that seems a little drastic. Its not the Suns style to do that just because of a roster logjam.

They could trade or cut Trybanski. They would do this if they thought it was the only choice. I think they would like to keep him around if they could.

In the end, I think they are going to try to trade Knight, Googs, and or Casey. If they can't find something that looks decent, I think they'll cut Knight or Trybanski and just "eat" the contract.

There is still a chance that they could cut DerMarr.

How's that for a committed answer?

I think the suns would like to get down to about 14 players.
That means they cut or trade 4 of these players.

It may hinge on DeMarr Johnson making the club.
With Penny, JJ, CJ, the off guard spot is full.
With Marion, Zarko, JJ, Penny, small forward is covered.

DeMarr Johnson is going to have to show a lot to stay with this club.
I believe they are trying hard to move Brevin Knight.

Suns 2003-04 Roster

1) Leandrinho Barbosa
2) Zarko Cabarkapa
3) Tom Gugliotta
4) Anfernee Hardaway
5) Casey Jacobsen
6) Joe Johnson
7)Stephon Marbury
8) Shawn Marion----I have tried 5 times to edit out this face!?
9) Amare Stoudemire
10) Jake Voskuhl
11) Scott Williams
12) Dejan Koturovic

13) Robert Archibald- - keep
14) Cezary Trybanski- - keep/trade

DerMarr Johnson- - cut/trade
Brevin Knight- - trade

Ray Weathers- - cut
Nick Sheppard- - cut
