OK you techies.... I need HELP!

Not sure if this happened to anyone else, but I made the fatal mistake of clicking on the Katie Holmes nude photes thread the other day... I got some sort of Spyware virus and believe I successfully removed it. However, I continue to have this yellow flashing exclamation point in the bottom tray that says:

Security Alert: Spyware Found
Your computer is infected with the latest version of PSW.x-Vir trojan. Click this balloon to remove the spyware.


When I click the balloon, it take me to a website entitled, www.antivermins.com. No doubt, trying to get me to buy their anti-spyware product.
How can I get rid of this problem!!! Help!!!

I admit it... The funny thing is I haven't succumbed to that temptation in a long time... And I despise Katie Holmes... So why did I do it??? STUPID!!

Yea, dreamcastrocks is on the right track there, it sounds like the warning is the actual virus.

Your Anti-virus program could have been compromised.
Symantec has an online scanner here

Also if you don't already have a good antivirus/antispyware program try the AVG trial here.


And in the future if you want to see naked picture of Katie Holmes just use Google image search. Don't click on spam.

Use bazooka to get rid of that stuff. It is complex, and it tells you step by step exactly how to remove things that reside in registries, hide themselves, etc.

Bazooka is by far the best way to remove that stubborn spyware stain.

That is one weird program. Only downloaded it a few minutes ago and it is already 17 days old. Scan completed in like .005 seconds.
