Remember how Okeafor said when he first got here that he was happy to go to a team with a winning attitude who knew how to play the right way?

How he complained that certain players on that team didn't work as hard as him and they just didn't want to win enough?

Many on this board agreed and felt the Seahawks had regressed significantly after that free agent summer, then they promptly went to the Super Bowl!

Do you guys feel Okeafor has lived up to what you felt he would be? I like to look at how well a team does when you take a so called key player from their starting lineup... didn't seem to hurt them at all.

I'm watching the Colts closely too, to see if they will be hurt without edge..looked like it last week.

For what its worth -- Holmgren basically agreed with his statements, as reflected in the fact that the Seahawks that offseason turned over 2/3's of their starting defense

Statsically, he produced just as well last year as the previous three seasons of his career. I think people were expecting another Berry, and that's why people have been disappointed in him. He plays very hard, I'm not unhappy with him at all. Remember, the Seahawks offered him just as much money as we did so they liked him too.

He has been OK... Pretty solid. But he does bring speed to the team which is nice.

Didn't the Seahawks try to sign Okeafor only to have him choose to leave?

Yes. As ajcardfan already stated, Chike was offered comparable money to stay, but he chose to join AZ.

For whatever reason, it's obvious that Chike just wasn't happy in Seattle.

I think he played well last year but he was below my expectations as a pass-rusher and played better than I thought he would against the run.

First, to even put Okeafer on the same level as Chad Brown or Koren Robinson is completely bogus. 1 is still very much so a productive player in the league, the others are not.

Second, you do know that Seattle offered Okeafer the same size contract we offered signed him to, right? So to say that he was cut or they didnt want him back is bogus. Seattle did want him back and the size of the contract they offered him is proof of that.

I for one am happy with his production.

He got about what I expected in tackles, sacks, forced fumbles, passes batted down. But he exceeded my expectations in being top 10 in the league in tackles for loss. And although still not the greatest run stuffing DE he did play much better then what I expected he would.

If i remember correct, Seattle offered him 1 million more. I recall the article from last year. The hawks wanted him back, he didnt want to stay. I am sure he was more than aware of the potential error he made in calling the defense of the seahawks out when they pounded us twice last year... I think that bringing this point up some 9 months after they went to the superbowl is a little redundant.

To say he was cut isnt accurate at all though.

Maybe tommorow he can prove his point. I liked it when we signed him, and I like him now. Chike is a worker.

What Chike lacks in size & strength he more than makes up for in speed and lateral movement. Yes, he has trouble disengaging larger blockers, but his lateral movement at the line of scrimmage is unparalleled on the team. If free from a block, he's almost guaranteed to make the tackle at or just past the line of scrimmage.

I honestly don't know why people have it in for him, his play is solid. He's not a pro bowler, he's a role player.

i was never big on the signing. i thought they could have signed someone else. in chike defense, he was playing with people who werre signed off the street because of injury.
